travel agents

Hi-

I have encountered a big problem with my travel agent (Destinationweddings.com).  My guests have found their room and airfare much cheaper (>$200pp) on online sites such as expedia, priceline, and cheapcaribbean, and the travel agent service is not matching the price.  Therefore- it has been extremely difficult to fill our room block that we placed a deposit on.  Since the beginning of our travel plans- they have been extremely unhelpful and I have had to change specialists once and probably now a second time.  They made many mistakes with our contract and with overcharging our deposit- I should have just gone with someone else to begin with.

But- that being said- I am thinking of finding a different company after the room block is full- if I can fill it.  Does anyone have suggestions on how to work with destinationweddings.com, similar issues, or any ideas on different agents???

Thanks so much for your help!!!

I'd try one of the agents on this forum (click the banner at the top of the page to request one).  They're fantastic!

I had similar issues with two different travel agents before I found a great TA here.  If its not too late for you to switch to a different agent, I would do it.  Using a not-so-good agent will end up costing you more money (they really dont work at finding deals for you) and a lot of stress that you dont need.

I clicked on the banner at the top of the site and sent in my request/info early this week! I just got an email back today from Vacations For Less Inc. So far I think she will be great! My guests can book everything through them, and even make payments! It will even go towards my group bookings so it can count towards the incentives given!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
