Saying hello! Just found this forum and really looking forward to using it!

Hi there!  My name is Judy and I am engaged to my fiance Andy.  We got engaged in July and are planning a Maui, Hawaii destination wedding.  In terms of dates, we originally were looking at a 3/11/2011 wedding date, but my dear grandmother passed away this past Saturday and the mourning period and travel is throwing a huge delay into our planning, so we are seriously considering planning to change the date to sometime in September/October 2011.

Thoughts?  Even before my grandmother passed, I was already feeling stressed and now with this sad news, I'm just not in a super wedding planning mood and don't want to deal with the stress right now.

Anyways, hello to you all!  Sorry to provide so much information all at once.

Welcome Judy!  This forum is fabulous!!

I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  Maybe since this is still very recent, you could give it a few weeks before making any major decisions.  I see nothing wrong with taking a few weeks off of planning to cope and then decide what will be best for you and your fiance.

You should be enjoying your wedding planning (your marrying the man of your dreams!), so if that means reconsidering the date, then I see no problem with it at all.

Best wishes!

Jaime

Congratulations and welcome to the site!  If you and your fiance are ok with delaying your wedding by a few months, then it may help.  Planning a wedding is stressful enough as it is and there is a lot to do.  Take time to mourn your grandmother and start planning when you are ready.  All the best!
