Hello Dreams Tulum Brides/Grooms

I'm getting married there on November 23rd, 2007.

I have a few questions that I'm hoping you can help out with........

1. Are you/did you book your reception & ceremony sites before hand?? I sent a request for info on my options and was advised that I should wait until I get there to choose. This wouldn't be an issue if they only did one wedding per day but............

I'm just concerned that whatever I choose will already be booked by another bride.

2. How long would you estimate the walk down the aisle to be?? I'm trying to choose my music & I don't want to pick songs that are too long/short. - on that note, what did you/are you planning on having music for?? I plan on doing a processional, recessional and first dance but I'm wondering if there's any need to have music for the signing of docs/cocktail hour etc.

3. Not really a question but any other info/tips you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi,

Are you doing a beach wedding or a chapel wedding? For the beach wedding, I think the walk can be as short or long as you want it to be depending on how fast you walk.

The questionnaire that Sandra sent to be filled out for reserving the date did have a place for reception requests I think (I filled it out so long ago I don't exactly remember) but I really liked the set-up in the Himitsu restaurant. But then again, it is really hard to tell unless you're there yourself.

I'm not sure that November is as popular a time the year than spring or summer so there may not be any issues with another couple grabbing "your spot." If you ask Sandra I'm sure she'll tell you if there is another wedding happening that day.

I am getting married at Dreams on October 26th (a Friday, like you), and I know that we are the only wedding on that day. You may be the only wedding, since you're getting married on a Friday as well; I'd check with Sandra. Even if there is another wedding, I don't think Sandra schedules any weddings at the same time because she is in charge of setting them up. I would definetly talk to her about specific ceremony time, if you haven't already.

We are getting married at DT on May 10, 2008. I am in the process of finding out info on the different areas for the reception. I figured we would decide on that soon and then decide on the wedding location once we get there. I know there are 2 beach locations for weddings.

As far as timing and songs for the aisle, I have not even thought about that yet! Sorry!

Thanks for your input ladies! I have sent another email off to Sandra & Landy to see if there are any other weddings booked that day - it seems that Landy is the only one who responds to my emails though.......

I'm ok with waiting to choose locations as I understand that I could change my mind once I see everything. I do sort of have my heart set on the Seaside Grill though as I like the idea of an outside reception.

What's everyone doing after their dinner?? I'm thinking of either wandering over to the disco or the Friday night beach party. We only have 18 guests booked and I don't imagine there'll be too many more booking so dancing would be a little weird for me at the reception (although I do plan on doing the first dance at the reception).

We had our wedding over by the scuba shop, then the reception outside at the El Patio. It was perfect! They set up tiki tourches around the patio area.

I would definitely wait until you get there to pick the wedding area. Sandra or Landy will walk you around the property and show you the best places. Seriously I stressed about the whole "wait until you get here to pick everything", but it's really the way to go.

We had 30 guest, and we all went to the Disco after the wedding. It was a BLAST!! Also, if I'm thinking correctly the Friday beach party was over by the time our reception was over at 10:30....but I may be wrong.

The "waiting to figure it out when we get there" thing was a little nerve racking for us as well. It really does go quickly and smoothly once you meet with Sandra.

The reception at El Patio is a great idea. That must have been so awesome.

I plan to have our reception at El Patio. I am glad to hear you liked the location Jason and Lisa! Also, Lisa, what did your guests do for alcohol at this location? Is there a bar very close or did they set-up a bar for you? We are planning on purchasing the Dreams Ultimate package and the gold menu says it includes a welcome bar. I was just curious about this. I do not want to have to walk 10 minutes away everytime we need a refill :)

There is a bar (a little walk up window) in that resturant. I don't think anyone had to use it though because we had 4 waitors that were completely awesome and no one ever had an empty glass. Oh and they LOVE giving people "boom boom" shots!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
