I went through a period a few months back where I was getting no responses at all so I asked my TA if she could help me out. I ended up getting a response back from Landy so from then on, I sent any questions I had to both Sandra & Landy.

Up until I got my response from Sandra yesterday, I was only getting responses from Landy with maybe one or two lines from Sandra in a separate email. I'm told though that Sandra is extremely overworked and it has been the busier wedding months that I've been trying to communicate with them. It seems to have slowed down now as I'm getting better and more detailed responses.

I find that asking very specific questions in a numbered format gets the best & most concise response from both Sandra & Landy.

I suspect that they've had lots of experience with brides changing their minds so they're hesitant to plan the fine details with you until closer to the date. They will send you pics of ceremony sites, reception sites/setup, flowers, cakes and menus for the reception & cocktail hour if you ask.

I didn't really like the cake & flower options though so I sent pics of what I had in mind to see if they could do that for me. As mentioned in my previous post - I'm still working on the flowers ($350USD on top of the pkg is a little out of my budget).

I would definitely wait until you get there to pick the wedding area. Sandra or Landy will walk you around the property and show you the best places. Seriously I stressed about the whole "wait until you get here to pick everything", but it's really the way to go.

We had 30 guest, and we all went to the Disco after the wedding. It was a BLAST!! Also, if I'm thinking correctly the Friday beach party was over by the time our reception was over at 10:30....but I may be wrong.
I am helping my cousin research Dreams Tulum for a spring wedding. You indicated you went to the disco. Is that on site, or did you have to leave the resort and go elsewhere. One of the reasons she's considering ruling out Dreams is she wants to have a "party" and had read somewhere that the DJ has to be done by 10:30 and the resort in general is quiet after that time (meaning there are no other bars are places on site to continue to party if we have to shut the DJ down at 10:30. She is planning a large group - @ 150 people.

Yes, the DJ has to be done by 10:30 p.m. They will not stay later even if you pay extra. I'm sure it's because they do not want to be loud and disturb other guest if they're trying to sleep.

The disco is on site at the bottom level of the lobby. If I remember correctly, they closed down around 2:00 the night of our wedding - which was Friday night. They close around midnight during the week. I must add, the disco is what you make of it. It was very boring when we went in there during the week, but when we took all our guests there the night of our wedding, we picked out all the music and took over the dance floor. We all had alot of fun that night!

We did not, but we met another couple while we were there that got married in the chapel. It was really nice. It will only hold around 30 though, so if you have a large group, it will not work.

I saw some pictures of a reception on the beach but there was some sort of bar/restaraunt that was completely open except for a roof I believe. I would love to have my reception in this exact place..anybody know where it was??

Anyone that had the beach ceremony....did you pick out the set up?? I haven't heard back from Sandra in awhile...I sent in all my info to reserve the date.....I'm usually a patient person..but I'm just worried b/c I'm ready to get my STDs out!smile117.gif

I think you're talking about Sea Side Grill. I had mine at El Patio. Here's some pics if this is the one you're talking about...I don't have a pic of Sea Side...sorry.

We did have a beach wedding and were able to pick out the set up and location of the ceremony. Sandra took us around the property at our meeting and showed us the popular areas. I would recommend you wait until you get there to pick the location of the ceremony. You might change your mind once you get there...

Can I ask those of you in the planning stages a question? I've just wandered through the Dreams Tulum site and not found any reference to a wedding coordinator or person to contact. I'm interested in a site visit, but don't know who to talk with! Can someone PM me to send contact info? And if any of you have done a site visit, could you tell me if they gave you any kind of discounted rates during your stay?

Thanks!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
