Hi Ya'll newly engaged gal here, We are planning to get married Feb 12th 2010 but apparantley thats high season for DW's in the Mayan Rivera!!!! So frig now we have to potentially move our wedding date so it's not over our guests budgets to go?! Where do I go from here? Now I dont even know when I'm getting married! what is a reasonable budget to set for our guest?! $1500-1700 is what I'm guessing...

I have a meeting with a wedding travel agent on Sept 22nd, so I'm hoping that she may be able to shed some light....

anything else I should be doing?

excited to hear your thoughts :)

Welcome!!  I think your guest budget seems reasonable.  You could pick a very nice place with that $.  It will really depend on how many nights and where they are flying from.  My guests are paying $900-$1200 per person for four nights at a 4* all-inclusive (including flight and all taxes from Houston).

Riviera Maya is an awesome place for a wedding!!  I haven't had mine yet, but I've visited a few times and seen some beautiful ones!

Unfortunately I dont have info for you about February being high season for DWs.  I know that May is HUGE for DWs, but normal travel is very low, so all of my guests are still paying low season prices!  Memorial Day weekend being the exception.

If you want your wedding in February, you should definitely have it then!  Your far enough out, that you can make it work.  Good luck!!

Happy Planning

Hi thats for the response! I meant to say that Feb is high season for vacationers, hence it being more exspensive to have our wedding at that time, so I may have to change the date to May ect to keep to my guests budget. Feb is expensive as is March. But I'm willing to switch the date to get a great price at a fancy resort!

I'v visited the the mayan rivera a few times too and think it's the perfect spot for us to celebrate our special day! I'm such a beach bum! Couldnt imagine my day anywhere else.

Where did you book your wedding?

I hope to hear some updates as to how it went for you! and any tips~!

when is your wedding date?

We are booked for Azul Sensatori for May 7, 2011.  It took the longest time to finally pick a resort!  I promise it all gets easy after that!

We went with Azul Sensatori because its all ages, but it also has an adult only section.  We couldn't do an adult-only resort because my future brother/sister in-law have kids.  Plus, there is a really cool premium section with swimup rooms that share a lazy river and hot tubs outside each room.  I could visualize all my friends/family in that section and was sold!

Have you decided if you are doing adult-only or not?  That will help you narrow it down right away!  Then its really just small details the differentiate the rest.

I have noticed that the "low season" typically starts May 1st for most hotels in Riviera Maya.  Not sure if you'd be willing to wait that long though?  One plus, is you'd be certain to miss all Spring Breakers!

I am so happy to help, so please ask away!!

Hola!

Welcome to the forum and above all, congratulations for your engagement!

One of the best things about Riviera Maya is the fact that you can get everything you dream, and it goes from the simplest things, up to the most elaborated...A good month would be May in order to get married here. I am certain that would love it.
Your wedding is going to be full of magic and this website will help you a lot!

We wish you the best.

Happy planning.

Good luck with your planning. With Easter being so late this year, the low season starts May 1. We're getting married on April 22 and our guests are paying $2000 a week plus airfare at Moon Palace Riviera Maya. My family ahs stayed there a few times and always had a wonderful time, that how we chose our resort.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
