Any Secrets Cap Cana Brides? Had some questions for you...

Recommended Posts

I know that there is an up charge for pretty much everything ; ). As I understand, they can do anything, for a price. I mentioned to Andrea that I wanted to use orchids for flowers at the reception to keep things cohesive. I am not sure what to do for linens. I was thinking about keeping it simple and using a neutral color scheme with an accent color (deep purple) which is what my attendants are wearing. I am waiting for prices which will ultimately help us decide on how much we do. I was considering doing some things myself but at the end of the day shipping, and actually setting things up does not sounds worth saving a few bucks. When I get to the resort I do not want to have to stress about anything more than having to answer questions related to preferences!! What are you doing for photography?

We are just going to use the resort photographer, from what I have seen his work looks beautiful. I believe Secrets works with a company called Caribbean Celebrations for the decor, check out their website or facebook page and theie work is amazing too! We just booked the private island for the ceremony and I am super excited about that! My MOH is wearing sangria...so I'm trying to decide on a color scheme?! Decisions decisions! Let me know if you find out any more information! Good luck!

Hey ladies,

I recently saw I trip advisor that the resort has been bought out. It will no longer be all inclusive or adults only. I hope I'm not catching you off guard since I was not informed and I planned to have my wedding here. Since the changes I think I will look at my options again. What do you guys think?

Hi!

Yes, the resort is no longer being managed by Secrets.  It is now being managed by Grand Resorts at Cap Cana.  As far as my understanding, they are looking into hiring a wedding specialist to handle weddings.  I've been pretty much up in the air with my wedding as nobody contacted me about the changes.  I found out through my travel agent.  It does not seem like it's been a smooth transition.  According to the new management, if your wedding was booked before the transition then they will honor what was negotiated w/the previous management (Secrets).  I don't know but I'm a bit uneasy about this whole thing...

As far as the all-inclusive option, it will no longer be an all-inclusive resort but it will be an option to purchase.

Happy planning!

Yep - I found out only through facebook and have not been contacted from the resort as of yet in regards to the change. We did have our wedding planned there for May of next year - but have decided to change to Secrets Royal Beach - we think that the adults only atmosphere is something that we were looking for. I have heard though that people have been pleased who have decided to stay with the resort in terms of weddings and just vacations as well. It was a tough decision to move resorts because it took me forever to decide on a resort. groupscoordinator.scc@grandresortsatcapcana.com - this is the email address that was given on the facebook page to an inquiry about weddings. I emailed them today to see if I could get my deposits back...**crosses fingers that they can do that easily**

I was booked at this resort for my honeymoon in Feb 2012. I am getting married at the Now Larimar which is also owned by AM properties but is not an adults only resort. I am pretty bummed out about this because now I have to choose a new resort for our honeymoon and we will not get all of the comps that we were originally going to get because we will have to choose a different resort. We were going to go to Secrets Royal Beach but it is attached to the Now Larimar and they share restaurants so we didn't want to be connected to the same resort with the rest of our guests and eat at the same restaurants for two weeks!! Too many decisions! We stayed at the Now this summer to check out the hotel and they were still in transition from being owned by NH Real. They opened in May and we stayed there in August and they were clearly not ready to be an AM Resort. The food was pretty terrible but we already have 50 people booked so we don't have many options as to change hotels :( I thought planning a destination wedding was supposed to be easier but I am getting stressed out with all of these changes being made!! Any thoughts??

Hey Sarahgn4T,

Did you contact Sanctuary about your honeymoon? They claim to be honoring all previous agreements that were already booked.  if you were booked already at Sanctuary, then everything should be remaining the same.  If you haven't done so, I would contact the hotel directly and see what they can do for you.  Given the transition, it seems they're willing to work with the clients that were already booked.

Good Luck.

That is correct as of Dec 12, 2011 the resort will only have one adults only section and I believe that is the Castle. Maybe you can move your reservations to that area of the resort - the adults only thing was a big deciding factor for us. They will honor all previous reservations including the all inclusive ones.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
