Is it ok at your Stag and Doe to just have money won?

Recommended Posts

A Stag and Doe is also known as a Jack and Jill.

It is a party where usually (which i've seen many times in the past) the wedding party throws this party for the couple getting married.  They usually rent a hall, have a bar, play a few games.  Everyone who comes pays an entry fee of usually $10 each or 2 for $15.  There are raffles and prizes.  Some Jack and Jill's have a table set up to bid on prizes like a silent auction.

Just a get together.  At the end of the night, the wedding party gets back all their money back for what they put out and anything left over is given to the bride and groom to go towards their wedding.

Yes. My FI and I said that we didnt want one, but our wedding party is insisting and we are actually really excited about it now. We were going to do the AHR but that just is not in our budget and this is a fun way to see everyone who cannot go, and those who can. :) All that I have been to in the past have been a blast.

Sounds like a neat idea but we live out of state (New Jersey) and that would mean that we would have to schedule another visit back home (to Texas) on top of all the visits with the holidays, showers etc...

I will keep it in mind for the next friend that gets hitched!

Thanks for the feedback ladies!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
