Wedding Coordinator or just use forum notes and suggestions (& day of coordinator)?

Recommended Posts

Hi all!  I'm trying to decide whether or not I need a full wedding coordinator.  I know there are so mnay suggestions here on this site and I can contact some vendors directly, but I am worried about whether that is not too much work.  The resort has a wedding coordinator that I know will help me but I see that people have hired a wedding coordinator as well as had the hotels coordinator.  I guess the difference is planner vs. coordinator?  I don't know...  any thoughts? I would lvoe to save money on the coordinator but of course don't want to create too much work or have stuff left out. I just feel like the hotels coordinator might be enough. my wedding is going to be about 50 or 60 people...

would love your thoughts and to hear your experiences!

also, how much is the typical wedding coordinator fee??

Hi,

In the hotel I am getting married they don't have a wedding coordinator they only have an event planner which they only focus in hours, food etc but not in details, decoration etc and because of that reason I hired an outside coordination that works with the event planner. It's much easier for me working with my WC b/c she deals with all the vendors and we only talk to her instead of talking to all the vendors making things much easier for us. And the vendors are 100% reliable. I hope this helps.

I hired an outside Wedding Coordinator http://blog.karlacasillas.com/ and I could not have been happier and If I had to do it all over again, I would hire her in a heartbeat. We had 65 guests.  I think the biggest difference is that you get a more "personalized" service from an outside wedding coordinator than the more generic service you get from the planners that are assigned to you at the hotels.  My coordinator worked very well with the coordinator at the hotel but she had control over all vendors and details of our wedding.  I love to plan events myself and actually considered planning my own wedding...but I am so glad I didn't!  All I remember is that the entire week and especially the day of the wedding my husband and I enjoyed absolutely every second of our wedding and never had to worry about anything at all thanks to Karla and her team!  Good luck!

Thank you for the information!  I think I might just go for it.  The "day of" coordinator seems too scary for me.  Although I can find photographers and some other things on my own, I think it would be SO nice to have a coordinator arrange everything.  like you said, liznsergio, I want to not worry about anything the week(end) of the wedding and if the hotel has someone, it is limiting.  THANK YOU for this input and the certainty that you would do it again in a heartbeat :).

so how much was Karla?  I do think $1600-2000 is a good range (thanks, wnmrtn8).  and not outrageous for the amount of work they do.  I think some of them might be able to work with that price if I do some research, hire people, or other things on my own, which would be like a tailor-made coordination package.  I like that and hope they could... We'll see...  thanks again!

Thanks all!  I decided to go with Rachel Hansen in Cabo.  She is GREAT!!!  The price is right and she's doing so much!!  She's got a lot of experience, is SO professional and super sweet and of course helpful.  DEFINITELY the way to go and worth the $ in my opinion.  If anyone wants her info, message me! Thank you to the ladies above for your input and I'm glad you found WCs for a good price, too :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
