So my sisters Baby Shower was on Sunday. I made a whole bunch of food and I had a veggie tray. My Grandma asked me what was in the dip and I told her it was just Heluva Good Dip (stuff from the store) She looked at me in shock and said "You should never tell someone that you bought it at the store if they think you made it" and all the ladies started going on about how they always tell their FH's that they made stuff from scratch even though it was store bought. They couldnt believe me when I said I wouldnt do that and that if I make it myself FI knows and he also knows if I bought it. Am I the only person who is honest about food?

heck no! I'm proud of my local grocery store and the delightful snacks they provide me with! everyone knows I can't cook, so they would know I was lying!

what's the point in lying? i'm hardly trying to build a reputation as Betty Crocker! i think that's just an old fashioned mentality where we're looked at as weaker if we're not all things (great cook, great wife, great mother, etc.). laugh it off!

Um no! I would never tell someone I made something that I bought at the store, that is Lying! Not saying they are liars or anything, but I do think its wrong to say you made something you did not.

I get mad when people makes cakes from a box and sell them to other people saying they made them. You might have decorated it, but you did not make it. lol So no, I would never do that.

        BTW, I love Heluva Good!

I agree. I can't believe they would want you to lie! Older women are so funny sometimes.
If someone says to me "wow this dip is great" I'll say "remind me to thank Pick and Save".

The thing is though it wasnt just older woman. My sister does it all the time she said. If she buys say a lasagna her FH wont eat it because its store bought. He thinks its gross. But if she puts it in a dish and says she made it he will eat it and love it. Its so weird to me. Like Robin is just happy that there is dinner waiting for him every night after work. Regardless of who made it or where it came from.

I totally 'fess up when it's something store bought. No reason to lie...and besides, what if they want to pick some up for themselves. I can't be limiting people's food options by telling them I made something that I didn't! lol!

Or worse yet, what if they want the recipe!
