All White Affair Reception?

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies,

I will be Mrs. Hemmings on 11/26/11.  We are getting married in Dreams Palm Beach, Punta Cana.

I've always loved the idea of having an all white affair. We chose to have our reception on the beach under the stars.

Do you think it would be too much to ask our guests to dress in all white?

Would that be impossing?

I saw some pics on the wed and the reception pics look amazing.

Please share your thoughts...

I am doing an all white wedding ceremony and reception.

I absolutely fell in love with the idea after seeing a photo shoot from Riviera Maya based photographer Company, Del Sol.

You can view the shoot here. http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=298Most amazing wedding photo shoot I have ever seen.

When I first told my Mother and FI about the idea, they both seemed a little confused as to why I would want to do such a thing. They thought might take the attention off me. After showing them the slideshow they understood and thought it was a great idea.

It really helped that I showed them some photos of past “All White Weddings†I donâ€t think they could envision it when I first told them. Also I needed to explain to everyone that the men could wear Khaki Pants, and it was ok if the clothing had some tan or silver accents.

When I first hear the idea I had concerns as well but I am so glad I made the decision to do it.

Hmm, I personally would not have done it but that's just knowing my and my husband's family.  It's mostly cultural and the "white parties" are an American thing.  I think you have to look at how large your wedding is and the demographic of the party.  Would you be upset if someone didn't comply by the rule??  What if they wore ivory LOL?  Just saying :)  Some people don't know how to follow rules very well :)

That's the same photo shoot that inspired me. The bridal party have pops of orange and turquoise to stand out though. I love the whole concept and my mom looks at me like I am crazy. I am putting it on my website and will include a dress code in my invites. Hopefully, people will get it and I am sure they will call if they don't.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
