Hey guys.

When I booked my trip I didn't get the insurance, which is a first for me. We're flying American Airlines and this is the same week they cancelled 10,000 flights. Our travel agent said we were not allowed to get the insurance AFTER booking so he advised I look on my own. He was charging us over $100 each.

I'm so glad this happened. Because I searched on my own and found an indepdent travel insurance company where I only paid $59 a person!!! It covers everything! Trip cancellations, delays, interruptions, medical, baggage loss, inclement weather, the works.

So I just wanted to share this link with you. You may find it helpful!

I emailed it to all my guests!

I would NEVER travel without insurance! And definately shop around.

For the Canucks out there RBC is the best around and I paid $104 for the 2 of us for 2 weeks.

If you travel alot, they have a multi-trip package too, I think it's $150 for 2 and it's unlimited trips.

I sell insurance (in a round about way) so I know the value of having it for sure.

I personally have to vouch for the Travel Insurance as well. I sell it to almost all of my clients (I sell RBC Insurance)... and after taking all of the extensive training and hearing many horror stories, I would NEVER travel without insurance again!! I cringe when my clients decline to purchase the insurance - you just never know when something may happen.

If any of the Canadian ladies need to purchase travel insurance for the trip, or if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to PM me!

I have always purchased it while booking and didn't this time (not sure why...crazy, I guess) and then thought to myself, WHAT AM I DOINGhuh.gif It's my wedding and if something happens and all of our guests there and we're not, that would be insane!

Also, one year we got stranded in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic for a few extra days due to Hurricane Katrina so the insurance came in REALLLLLLLLLLLY handy!

  • 2 months later...

For those who are taking/who took a photographer with them away and paid their way, what were your expectations when it came to travel insurance?

Did you get it for them? Did you pay? Did you split it? Did they pay?

Were you worried about not having it?

I'm sending my photographer a list of qn's and this was one of them. We're getting married April 2009 and I am worried about something happening in between when we sign the contract and when we go away in 10 months!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
