Okay so I am reading over the optional travel insurance and it seems like a good idea...but I could also see why I wouldn't need it since I have medical coverage that I verified extends out of country and renter's insurance for my belongings, life insurance if I die, etc...

How many of you are purchasing the travel insurance?

i have to say, i have never purchased it but also know the risk involved by not having it...i know if i have to cancel my trip then i will have to eat most of the cost...

but i have gone on dozens of trips and at $100 a pop for incurance x. 20 trips that is $2000 i would have spent on travel insurance...i have not had to cancel a trip.

i do recommend it for alot of clients if they do not travel much or are elderly or have elderly parents that they take care of etc. where if someone got sick they had to cancel...then i think it is worth it.

I have been on many trips to Mexico without Travel Insurance, but for our last trip we actually might have used it. I was sick and ended up having to go anyways, plus our passports almost didn't arrive in time. Eek! So that is making us re-think purchasing travel insurance for future trips...

i have never used it - but like Tammy mentioned, i was willing to take the risk. and it might make sense in some cases.

... and also, I have a Diners Club credit card which also provides some travelers insurance

I purchased it for our wedding because we were spending so much money for travel between the wedding & honeymoon, I didn't want to be out all that money if something happened.
