there are a bunch of different travel insurance plans...some just cover illness, some cover just lodging, some the whole shebang...

if you have a specific question, i can try to find the answer for you but there are a dozen different suppliers, each with a dozen different plans w/just small diff. so you get the picture...it would be alot of work to post.

if you have a TA, this is what you should ask them about.

Here's a website link for wedding insurance. I haven't really explored all the in's and out's of travelers insurance, so I don't know if it would cover lost wedding expenses.... but this is something that would provide additional reassurance to recoup some wedding expenses if something happened....

Since my parents are older and so is FI's mother, we're definitely getting travel insurance. I also plan on getting wedding insurance if it's not covered by the travel insurance, altho I'm not sure how that works since we're staying and getting married at an all-inclusive. But I figure if we're spending 10-15K on our trip and wedding, it's worth spending another $100 on travel insurance and $300-500 on wedding insurance to make sure we could get our money back if something happened between now and then....

we were able to get traveler's health insurance for Will since he does not have health insurance until after the wedding and honeymoon, for less than $100...and I am so glad that we did because my cousin just got back from PV and her little sister had to have an emergency appendectomy (spelling?) it cost her parents $10,000 to have this done in a mexican hospital. Their personal health insurance will reimburse most of that, however if you don't have insurance get something to cover you because you never know what could happen on vacation!

I agree---- a friend of mine at work wound up falling in the DR at Thanksgiving and when they took her to the hospital, they wanted to do surgery to fix her injury.

And, hate to say it, but when you add some alcohol to a wedding celebration, you're also increasing the chances of some type of injury!

If I remember correctly from our TA, the same travel insurance used to pay for your expenses if you cancel at the last minute also carry the hospitalization and careflight charges also. I'm sure each policy is different, so people will definitely want to get it spelled out and to also check with their own personal insurance....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
