Transporting OOT bags to Mexico?

Recommended Posts

Check with your resort and see if you can ship your stuff ahead of time. We are shipping everything a month before just in case customs wants to check it out.

My WC said as long as you don't ship shells, starfish or food, you are good to go.

I have thought about doing that, but I am concerned that if I ship them there, I won't see them ever again! I have heard horror stories of stuff going "missing" once it reaches the resort. Maybe this is my own paranoia?

We flew from Toronto on WestJet to Cabo.  Luckily WestJet allows 2 bags per person, 50lbs each.  We managed to fit all the OOT stuff into 2 suitcases though.  We had a lot of it including mugs, beach bags and towels for 26 people, plus other items too (but those were the big things).  I put a big note in the suitcases saying NOT FOR RESALE.  The only thing they questioned was the mugs.  They didn't know what they even were and when I told him insulated mugs, he had me write it down.  I was like "you know, to keep your drink cold?!?!"  Then I just explained we were giving them to our guests at the wedding and they were fine with that.

Thank you for posting this!

I just realized that a few of my girlfriends will be flying with West Jet and I they will definitely be willing to bring down an extra suit case for me (each if/when necessary). I feel a LOT more at ease knowing that I don't have to worry about adhering to Sunwing's baggage allowance!

The "NOT FOR RESALE" sign is going to be key in all of these bags for sure! Hopefully we don't have any problems getting things through customs!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
