Fiesta Americana 2 nights minimum?

I just heard back from FA and was told that I had to book two nights minimum at the Imperial Suite for our July 08 wedding. $2k/nt! Based on what I've seen from this forum, this seems to be a new requirement. This would put it out of our price range. I was wondering if anyone was able to negotiate this down?

We might have to do it at Dreams instead. Does anyone of their email address? I've called and left messages for Yesica (?) the wedding coordinator but haven't heard back.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We rented the Imperial Suite for one night, for our Welcome Cocktail reception (you better believe we're going to be in at 3pm and not out until noon the next day!) But the $2k is consistent with what they charge for it.

I would fight that if you can, although I suppose if you are having the wedding there, they are requiring the 2 nights so that the weekened is booked, b/c the chances of them renting it for one night is slim...

But that's exactly what they try to do in Cabo...keep everything in writing and don't be afraid to negotiate. For example, we just negotiated our F&B costs to exactly where they needed to be, and I managed to negotiate another site visit, and got a Master Suite for two nights for $145/night. Not too bad!

Good luck & keep us updated!

Thanks. I confirmed that the two night minimum went into effect for weddings a few months ago. That puts FA out of price range.

I am so bummed...I finally had my date settled and was ready to move forward. I feel like I have to start all over again.

Anyone else have any other suggestions as to location? The only other one that I was looking into, before I settled on FA, was Dreams.

Jill, did they give you a free site visit or you mean your were able to upgrade to the master suite for only $145 a night?

I figured out that they would work with me on the food prices...but did you get them to work down the beverage costs?

Michelle, we already did our "free" site visit, where we got 2 rooms 2 nights free in April. Which was really nice b/c they comped our Master Suite & Grand Club room.

This trip is additional in September, and they are offering the Master Suite at $145/night for our stay. And we are doing a free food tasting.

Just for reference, we got the Gala Dinner Buffett down to $75/person, with some modifications. We also are doing the cheese boutique at our cocktail hour, and we added the Pasta Boutique to the dinner, as well. But we will only order for like 60 people for the boutiques, since not everyone is only going to eat pasta. This is what we'll be serving:

CHEESE BOUTIQUE:

CHEESE SELECTION:
Brie, camembert, goat's cheese, manchego, gouda, gruyère, roquefort, cilantro-flavored cream cheese, chipotle-flavored cream cheese and sesame cream cheese.

FRUITS:
Strawberries, dried apricots, whole apples, dried apples, prunes, glazed pecans, raspberries and blackberries

ASSORTED BREADS:
PLAIN, BASIL AND OLIVE FOCACCIA, GRISSINI, CRUSTY ROLLS AND SALT BREAD.

$14.00 USD ++ PER PERSON (WITHOUT PORT WINE)

PASTA BOUTIQUE:

PAN-TOSSED PASTAS:
RAVIOLI, PENNE, FUSILLI, RIGATONI, GNOCCHI
sauces:
TOMATO CONFIT AND BASIL, CREAMY GORGONZOLA SAUCE, PESTO WITH DOUBLE PINE NUTS. PARMESAN CHEESE GRATER TO ORDER.

EXTRAS:
SEA FOOD AND SUN-DRIED TOMATO RISOTTO
Assorted focaccia with olives, rosemary and oregano
Pepperoni mini pizzas
Pear and roquefort mini pizzas

$16.00 USD ++ PER PERSON.

MODIFIED BUFFET:

Cold Seafood Table:
CALAMARI RINGS WITH FENNEL AND ROSEMARY Vinaigrette
Mint-scented Jumbo Shrimp with Ginger Tartare
Scallop Brochettes with Caper Vinaigrette

From the Grill:
Rack of Lamb with Pistachio Crust in Fresh Mint Sauce
Filet of Beef in Port Wine and Date Sauce
Loins of Pork in Bordelaise Sauce with Soy

Carving Station:
Seafood Skewers in California Cabernet and Basil Sauce
Chicken Roulade in Lobster Sauce
Veal Roulade in Calvados Sauce

Side Dishes:
Wild Rice with Cilantro
Seasonal Fresh Garden Vegetables Provençal
Potatoes and Yams Au Gratin
includes:
bread, butter regular and decaf coffee.

$75.00 USD ++ PER PERSON.

We have had no luck at negotiating beverage prices, so we're doing a consumption-based evening, and hoping for the best!

Jill, thanks for the info...That menu looks great! So the cheese boutique and the pasta you are adding with the rest for dinner? Are you doing appetizers during cocktail?

I am so mad because I asked about what they could offer me for a site visit and they just gave me a room price of $145 a night!! They didn't offer anything for free. I am however not having guests stay there either...but still, I am paying for their expensive suite, food and liquor!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
