whatever you do, don't make the mistake I did.  I picked my resort based on the people I wanted to come and tried to accommodate their budgets, which I did only to find out they decided not to come anyway. By then my FI and other guests had already put down our deposits.  We could have gone to a nicer resort with more of the things we wanted but because we set aside our "wants" for the "needs of others" we lost out.   I'm not overly sad about our choice of resort, there is a lot of good feedback, but there are a few other places I would have liked to consider.

The one rule that we did stick by was that both my FI and I had to agree to the resort.  We never would have forced each other into a location where we both weren't happy.

That's very true in a way that's what we've done tried to be accommodating to everyone there is another resort we prefer but i don't think its as big or as much for children and we have 2 children so have to think of that too!! it is hard to please everyone but i will be taking your advise i think I'll get everyones deposits to book and if people decide they aren't coming we'll go with second choice!!

and we definitely wouldn't force each other to go anywhere we didn't want to the decision is ultimately a joint one!!

thanks sweetluna great advice!

I'm so excited because my FI and I finally decided on a resort for our wedding, Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana! I feel as though a great big weight has been lifted off of my shoulders! We have also chosen Secrets Sanctuary Cap Cana for our honeymoon. I've heard so many good things about both of these places.

I booked Moon Dance Cliffs in Negril, Jamaica.  Your guests can choose between an all-inclusive option or just a European plan.  Flights to Jamaica are cheap, I have guests coming from all over the country, and so far it is looking like flights under $300 per person.  Another good thing....   your Dec 2 wedding date is before the high tourism season (I am getting married there Dec 10, 2011).   Plus the people at Moon Dance Cliffs are BEYOND accommodating.  The wedding coordinator there Kerry is super friendly, wants to give you the exact wedding you want within your budget.  ANother good thing about MDC is that if your guests decide their particular resort is too expensive, MDC still allows non-hotel guests to attend the wedding/reception.  Anyway, search Moon Dance Cliffs on this forum, and you will see the great reviews.... I am beyond excited!  Good luck and happy planning!

Jenleah! Great choice! I'm getting married at Dreams Palm Beach PC in July. I also checked out Secrets Sanctuary and was GAGA over it until I found out how expensive it is! I definitely want to go there someday to make sure to let us know how it is!! When is your date at Dreams? I have done so much research on so many resorts, this one is definitely great!!

I just sent off paperwork to the resort requesting December 2, 2011. We'll definitely have to keep in touch throughout the planning process, jaimeLe318. I need all the help I can get! It's just such a relief to have the place chosen and not to have to worry about it anymore. I was driving myself crazy looking at different resorts and comparing them for the longest time!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
