Planning for Secrets Maroma

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I just came across this forum while trying to fill out the Q& A for Cecilia. A few questions:

Does anyone have pictures of the reception on by the pool or garden?

We are having a hard time trying to figure out how many small details we need to plan in advance and have finalized, any advice? i.e. food, music, flowers

What kind of favors are people giving guests?

Has anyone done the bonfire for a "rehersal" dinner?

Is it best to have the house photographer or hire someone from cancun? We heard reviews from both.

We are very excited, but feel a little lost with response time from Ceilia and lack of details to know what we are picking out.

Thank you everyone! Congrats. We will be in there May 2011.

Hi!  I'm also looking at booking Secrets Maroma for either June or Novermber we're so very excited and still in the early stages. However I found the reviews on this board very helpful. We are going to definitely book an outside photographer after reading some of the reviews. What really sold me was the posts about the quality of pictures and how the best pictures do not get included in your album because the photographer wants to sell you a separate DVD with all the pictures included.

We're going to book the ultimate package...again I think and see if we can substitute the PA system for the wedding instead of the photographer and if there's a remaining credit, then apply it towards the DJ. The forums have been a bit inconsistent about whether they allow substitutions but it can't hurt to try.

We're also working on the theory that our whole reason for having a DW was so that it would be less stressful. So we're going to wait until a few months out to do most of the small details like flowers, food and music.

Anywho, Congrats!!!!  And keep posting any helpful information and I plan to do the same.  If I can track down those reviews again I'll post them here because they were most helpful to me.

Hey,

I am also a Secrets Maroma bride (January 2012).  If you check out the Secrets Maroma Brides thread, a lot of your questions will be answered (it helped me a lot with doing the Q & A)! Regarding the contract, it is really open so you don't need all of the details right now...but know that Cecilia does allow substitutions.

I'm definitely using an outside photographer. I'm going with Sascha Gluck! We're super excited.

Everything I've read about their onsite photographer is that the pictures included in the package are the pictures he choses. And the photographer purposefully does not give you the best photographs because they want to charge additional $$ for you to purchase a CD with all the photos. If you're going to use they're photographer I'd just do a bit more research. Perhaps the onsite photog isn't doing that anymore. I booked Sascha back in February I think for our 11/2011 wedding and haven't looked back at the others since :)

We're going to use a DJ recommended by the resort. Just haven't gotten around to booking it yet. That's my goal for this week!

Good luck!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
