Carnival Changed the Itinerary!

So we just passed the 3 month mark to our wedding, we were getting close to paying our final deposit for our wedding while at port in Key West, when my mom noticed on Carnival that the itinerary had changed, and we are no longer going to Key West!  censored.gif There are powerboat races that day, which we knew about for almost a year, but all of a sudden Carnival decided they would no longer stop there due to the races, so our only stop is Cozumel.  I just can't believe we have to start all over with the planning process for the wedding with this short amount of time.  I'm sure there's plenty of nice placs in Cozumel, I just really liked our location at Key West.  If anyone has suggestions for Cozumel locations while at port, please let me know!  Luckily we have a good travel agent, so I'm sure she'll have some good ideas on what to do.

OMG! So sorry to hear that.  I am a KW bride coming in on Carnival in March, I can't imagine having to start all over.  Lucky your mom saw it, I wonder if they would have contacted you.  There is probably going to be a lot more paperwork for Cozumel, but they have some really nice places.  Good luck, please keep us updated:)

Not sure if your doing a beach wedding but Paradise Beach in Cozumel was great. We spent almost the whole day there back in 2004 and it was very intimate in a sense that a zillion people weren't there. The beach has sand & water of course, but also hammocks, plenty of trees and beach toys. They also serve food on the beach and have a bar.

Also, the next beach over which is called San Fransisco beach was also great. When we left the first beach we walked over to the that one and they had a great pool with a swim up bar. There we had the best time lounging and swimming, and we even had some virgin drinks straight out the coconut! lol

If any of the two do weddings on their sites you will get some great pictures!

The same thing just happened to me!!! FML. Our wedding is on Nov.24th in St. Thomas and Celebrity Cruises just changed our itinerary yesterday.  We will now be in St. Thomas on Nov. 25th.  I've called the church, transportation company and wedding planner - all have been very accommodating and understanding - thank God.  We are still waiting to see if Celebrity will allow us to change our reception to the 25th. We've rented one of the restaurants for a private dinner/reception, since we are 60 people, but we may end up having the dinner/reception the night before.

How are your changes coming?  I had a cousin marry in Cozumel 6+ years ago and it was a beautiful wedding.

Best of luck,

Mish

Hi Mish-

Sorry to hear about your itinerary change!  Hopefully everything will work out and you can move it all to the next day.  So you booked the wedding through Celebrity then?  They should be pretty accommodating if you have at least.  Big downside to a cruise wedding, things can change without your control, but you have to just adjust and move on.

Things are going well with our changes, we booked our wedding at Nachi Cocom in Cozumel, so hopefully Carnival won't change anything else!  I think Cozumel will be even better than our original plans in Key West, so it all worked out.... well, I guess we'll see in 2 weeks.  We didn't book through Carnival since we didn't like the packages they had, so we're taking another chance with them changing the itinerary and us not having a place to get married, but I'm crossing my fingers.  Good luck with the rest of your planning!

Hi Allie~

We booked everything but the wedding through Celebrity.  They had us working with the Wedding Experience and it was an experience to say the least. LOL  They kept trying to sell us into a package, but I needed so much more......I was looking for something a la carte, since we are 60 people on the cruise and a few more meeting us on the island the day of the wedding.

On the bright side, my new wedding date is November 25th - which is Thanksgiving this year....and that happens to be my favorite holiday.  So I'm very optimistic that it will all work out.  The tough part has been all my DIY stuff that has the 24th written all over it - do I start over?  At this point, I don't think so. :)

The beach at Nachi Cocom looks beautiful (I just googled images) :)  Having lived in South Florida for most of my life, I will say that, based on the pictures, Nachi Cocom is better than Key West. :)  You made a great choice.

Warmest regards,

Mish

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
