Sandals Antigua Brides??

Recommended Posts

Viki,

Thank you so much!  I am getting ridiculously excited.  We got engaged in November and the next day picked the wedding date and place and have been excited ever since.  My fiance kept telling me to pace myself, but it really never flagged.  I can't believe it's getting so close.

Here is a question to the destination brides out there: Did any of the people who are coming with you to your wedding complain about the cost of going or try to make you feel like you should get married locally?

Hi All,

Sarah -   I'm just worrying way too much.  I so want them to feel appreciated & show that we're grateful that they've spent so much money to be with us.  FI  says I'm being silly.

.Yes, you're right.  Hen night is like a batchelorette party.  I got confused.  I'm really looking forward to it.  It should be a crazy night.shots.gif    Not looking forward too much to the ineveitable hangover the next day though.

Your OOT bags sound great.  Here's a list of what I've put in mine.

First aid kits

painkillers

immodium

scented candle tin

tinned sweets

US plug adapters

keycard  holders / lanyards

hand sanitizer

bath scrunchie

Pashmina's

I also got a small photo album & filled it with info for the week.  ie excursions, maps, return flight details, pick up points etc.

We're only having four guests coming.  They're staying for 7 days we're staying for 10 so we've arranged that when they return home there will be parcel wrapped champagne for them.

Viki, - Iâ€m not sure about the cell phone service but I do believe they have wireless capabilities.  There are also PCâ€s which can be used at the resort.  I think they tend to be quite busy though.  I plan on updating  FB too while there so hoping I can get access via iphone.

Good idea about the photos, definitely donâ€t feel pushed into anything.  Take your time & make sure you get the right deal for you. Weâ€ve gone with only 18 photos but weâ€ve asked for them to be on a CD so we can print as many copies as we want once we get home.

70 days....not long now....Iâ€m wishing time away too.  I just want to be there NOW!!

We had the same debate about what colour.  FI was worried heâ€d be too hot in black & we struggled to get anything in beige here in the uk.  This is what he opted to go

For in the end.  The trousers are a little long at the moment so will be taken up prior to leaving. 019.JPG

Our arrangements were fairly quick too.  We got engaged on New Years Day & then booked everything on 2nd January.

We were lucky with our guests, weâ€ve only got 4 & they were great about travelling out there.  We had no complaints at all....Thankfully.  Has everyone been ok with you?

Sweetness – Loving your OOT bags.  They look great. OMG not long now.

As a bit of an afterthought, if anyone on here wants to add me to their FB, please feel free.  Alex Nichol.  (Same pic as on here)

Hope you all have a great day.

Talk soon. xxx

OOT bags look great and fun!!! :)

Sarah:  Here are my thoughts on the wedding and others opinions.  Sorry ahead of time for it being long-winded LOL.

It is YOUR day!  You and your fiance should do exactly what you want and don't let others make you feel guilty about how you two have decided to get married.  Life is too short and everyone will get on board.  We were planning the whole wedding here and the cost was getting outrageous and then people that we weren't even really close to were inviting themselves and the stress was already bad and we were just in the beginning stages.  Back home you pay thousands of dollars to plan a 4 hour event which is really for everyone else and then you are too stressed to really enjoy it because you are so worried about everything going okay and EVERYONE ELSE having a good time.  Your wedding is not about everyone else it is about you and the man you are marrying.  I just got back from attending our friends' wedding and it was a fun time but she was stressed out the whole time and kept getting bar bills and other bills while she was suppose to be enjoying her wedding/reception.  It just made me thankful for our decision.

We got engaged this past Christmas Eve and immediately knew we wanted to go to Antigua for our honeymoon so when we were getting stressed with the planning we happened to see that our honeymoon spot does free weddings for a butler suite lol so here we are.  Those of us who have made this decision I think will be so greatful and thankful for a low-stress, beautiful wedding focused on love and enjoying the day.

Alex:  love the suit!!!  I will share pic with FI and see what he thinks.  I think black will be hot too.

Alex, the suit is beautiful!  I think cream is perfect for an island wedding.  Also, your OOT bags are wonderful.

Viki, that is exactly what I was thinking!  People have calmed down a bit but there was some grumbling at the beginning.  We kept telling people "you don't have to come.  This is for us".  That shut them up a bit when they realized we were serious.  Thank you!

Thanks Sarah.  I've also decided to add personalised shot glasses to the OOT bags.  Last minute thing today.  I've got to stop having these last minute ideas.  They're costing me a fortune.

Glad that you're not getting any more grief about your desintation wedding.

Alex,

I think shot glasses are a fun idea.  I love getting personalized stuff.  It feels like some thought went into it.  It's costing me a lot too, but what the heck.  We're going to have so much fun giving these bags out, it will be worth it!

Definitely.  when are you planning on giving yours out?  We were thinking about doing it at the welcome dinner.  Because our party is so small, I'm finding it really hard not to say anything about them to our guests.  I want to give them out now!!  No patience.... hahah

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
