Recommended Posts

Hello all!  I am new to BDW.com and I'm so happy that i found this site!  I'm planning my wedding for October 2011 in Punta Cana. Can anyone who's traveled to DR in October, tell me what they thought of the weather? Thanks in advance for your time and help! :-)

Punta Cana weather in October

During the month of October the temperature in the area starts to decrease. The temperature range from 31ºC (88ºF) in the middle of the day to 23ºC (73ºF) in the night time. While some tropical storms might hit the area is way less frequent than in September. Donâ€t forget that the very high humidity can make the temperature feel higher than it is. Similar to September the month of October is quite rainy with an average rainfall of 6.5 inches of rain. The UV index for this month lowers a bit (10) but is still quite elevated. The temperature of the surface of the sea is 28ºC (84ºF).

There's basically 2 seasons November - April (22 to 28 degrees, and not much rain) and then May - October (23 to 32 degrees and more rain).  My husband works at the Plaza near one of the resorts and he's had 3 days of rain since July 1st.  I was there for 3 weeks last October, and it was always the same - Sunny, partly cloudy, chance of showers (which is usually a 15 minute shower or down pour).  We had these 15 minute showers frequently, and I think only once did it pour all day.

There are times (usually May - Oct) where it rains all week.  No point stressing about it.  Nothing you can do about it either.  It's still warm out so I say jump in the pool anyway!

Enjoy your time!

Down pours can happen during any time of the year.

After doing a trash the dress session (submerging myself completely in the ocean and pool in my dress), getting caught in a down pour is actually quite fun now.  If I got married again and it started to rain, I would seriously dance in the rain (especially in Punta Cana where the weather is so warm and the cool showers are welcomed!)

How cool would it be to sit in your bathing suits under a Palapa, holding hands with your hubby, and listening to the rain?

I welcome the rain any time now!

I'm glad this thread was helpful to you as well!  Are you getting married at a resort?  If so - do you mind sharing the name?  I'm doing it at Paradisus Punta Cana!   Congratulations on your upcoming marriage :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
