Alright Ladies!  So this post is going to help me sort things out in my head...lol...if I type them out, I feel way more organized ;)  I am leaving in like 26 days (I think)...I just changed my package from the MAC DADDY to the Paradise package - I just cannot afford to pay per person extra for everything, and I wasnt going to be able to do the test hairstyle, manicure, pedi, and there was a lot of stuff that I really didnt care about having so I am saving some serious $$$ but downgrading my package, and just doing the private dinner WHICH they FINALLY let me change venues to the Mexican Restaurant which is ALL windows and overlooks the lit up pool AND had a big outside area!!! YAY!!!!  Thanks so much to LISANICOLE!!!

I have centerpieces that I am bringing, they are starfish things (dont know how to explain and I kind of let my mom and sister handle this because I could care less...lol) and I made my place cards with everyone's meal options and attached them to mini maracas and they are SOOO cute!!  suitcase is out so I can start weeding through everything...

Kelly - did you ever find out what is needed for the non legal ceremony??  Since we are not staying AT the hotel 4 days in advance, they are giving me a hard time so I am ready to say forget it, and we will just do the non legal ceremony and then come back here and go to a courthouse...but I want to make sure you dont have to be legally married for them to do that?!?

Hanna should be back soon so we can hear her review and see pics!!

I received ALL my travel documents in the mail yesterday so my OFFICIAL countdown has begun!!!

I just HAVE to share this story since it seems EVERYONE has one....the ONE person that we have been soooo excited about coming is a 76 year old amazing family friend!! He is the LIFE of EVERY party - he is having 151 rum SHIPPED to the resort because he blows fire with it, he is an ex marine and the most fun person you will EVER meet - we have been telling everyone "just wait till you meet Charlie" (thats his name) and he has the energy of a 20 year old and is in amazing shape!!!  Well, we got word the other day that Charlie was walking home (which he does EVERY DAY for exercise) and he was hit by a car - he is ok, but has some serious broken bones!!  I read a message his wife left on facebook saying he told the doctor they better fix him quick because he has a wedding in MExico he has to attend come hell or high water!!  Well, the doctor says he cannot put ANY weight on one of his broken legs for 10 weeks!!  We are so sad it doesnt look like our FAVORITE person will join us!!  Please keep him in your prayers!!  Thanks ladies!!!!

Hannah

We leave in 9 days and get married in 11!  So I quickly read through the latest posts and I'll give my input haha.

We actually are legally married.  We went to City Hall March 21 and had a small ceremony with family.  We are doing the blessing ceremony in Mexico.  It just seemed way easier than legally doing it there and then having to get everything translated and stuff.  We picked the gazebo instead of the beach.  Karla sent me pics a while back and it looks really nice.  It's also secluded so you won't have random peeps watching you get married.

We are aiming to have everything packed by the end of the weekend.  We are packing boxes with all the wedding stuff and paying to have them checked onto the plane.  I've heard some horror shipping stories so we figured it's safer this way and we'll only have to pay the fee the 1 way.

I'm trying to finalize all the specific music now.  It's really annoying!!  I think we are just picking the songs for the wedding party entrance, our entrance, father/daughter, mother/son, cake cutting, and last song and letting DJ Doremixx do the rest.  From what I've heard he does a great job so I'm trusting him to pick good dance music.

Hannah- Thats sad about your family friend!  We just found out 2 weeks ago Jeff's Gmom can't come anymore.

I am so right there with you Hannah! It is an all inclusive resort and I will have my own party when and where I want. I have already paid you to stay in the resort! I feel like this makes me sound cheep but this is part of the reason I did a destination wedding is so that I didn't spend a TON of extra money feeding and entertaining people. You get married 6 weeks before me so you can let me know how it goes! LOL!

Hi girls. Is it 4 days you have to be there to be married legally?? I'm there Tuesday and my wedding is on a Friday and Karla (the wc) didn't have a problem with it. Kelly- did you find out about the kids meals? Karla told me they have them and when we arrive just tell her how many are needed. Hannah congrats on getting the Mexican restaurant! It sounds perfect:) I'm really sorry about your friend I'm glad to hear he is going to be ok. I know how everyone is feeling about the packages! I just upgraded and now everyone going is like "oh don't do all that it's all inclusive- we can find drinks!" Ay ay ay.. I'm also not going to use the salon stuff included and the 30$ instead of $20 for 40+ extra people is killer. Oh well here's hoping I only do this once!!

Hey ladies!! Yes, I heard back from Karla about the kids' meals which was a big sigh of relief! Hannah, she also mentioned that you don't need any documentation for the non-legal ceremony and that you have to be there two days prior. Like Nucci, we're getting married here first to avoid all the other hub-bub. I'm so glad that there's others who feel the same about the extras! I was so gung- ho to do it all until my Excel spreadsheet kept growing! I really wanted the private dinner, so I'll forgo the welcome cocktail hour & possibly the cocktail hour. My parents surprised me the other day with what extra they decided to give us. My dad's stipulation was a dinner for extended family & bridal party sometime when we get back. My co-workers are throwing me a shower on Friday, which is so generous. My boss slipped that it's a Mexican food theme. I saw a sombrero in her office and am terrified :)

For those of you that wanted to know what was on the kids menu, I got it the other day so here it is:

1.                  Grilled Beef Burger

2.                  Grilled Chicken with Potatoes

3.                  Spaghetti with Meat and Tomato Sauce

4.                  French Fries with Ketchup

And yes, french fries is on the menu as an entree for kids...haha

ok - Lily had told me originally that we needed to be in Mexico 4 business days in advance, not including our wedding day, and it couldnt include the travel days...so that is why we are coming in a week before the wedding ...now they are telling me that I have to stay AT the Iberostar hotel at least 4 days prior in order to get legally married...so I am not sure...they dont seem to be consistent with much ;)  I wouldnt worry about it too much because she told me that the reasoning behind it was that it provided time to get all the legal documents reviewed and in order (passports and blood test..big whoop)

My travel agent told me to not even mention to them that I wasnt staying there first but I have crazy anxiety and ocd so I couldnt wonder what will happen - so I just sent an email explaining ...I will let you know what she says - its been 2 days so I should hear from her soon ;)

Kelly - Congrats on the Extra $$$$$!!!!  Also, have fun at your shower!!!!!!!  That is very nice of your co workers ;)

We were originally told we had to be there 3 days in advance but the best price on tickets was getting us there only 2 days in advance so Karla said that was fine.  We leave Thursday and get married Saturday.  We are doing the blessing ceremony so not sure if that makes a difference.

I totally get what everyone is saying about all the fees and upgrades, but you have to remember what you would be spending if you weren't doing a destination wedding.  The prices would be doubled.  From what I've heard once you get there and experience everything it will be worth every penny.

5 days to go!!!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
