They only use to charge this for photogrAphy?? What the heck?? What to do now. So it will be 1350 for a cheep external dj for 4 hrs! That's ridiculous!!! And the internal dj only will play an I pod list he prob does not speak English and does not talk during the reception. Errrrr!!!

Hi ladies of BDW, newbie here in the very beginning stages of planning!  We recently vacationed at the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar and fell in complete love with the resort (if any of you are planning from afar and have never seen the resort, PLEASE rest assured that this place is beyond amazing!!).  I just wanted to know which package you're all talking about in terms of the "Mac Daddy" package?  The website isn't very clear, and I feel that it's a little soon to start emailing coordinators.  We're still very far out from making any kind of major decisions, but I'd like to get an idea of price, and at least know what I want when it does come time to contact Iberostar.  From the reviews I've read, that Mac Daddy package seems to have everything we're looking for!  Thanks so much!!

I had no idea of this fee. My wedding is in 2 weeks and have been emailing with the wedding coordinator regularly and she never mentioned anything about this!! I even asked her about how I go about getting my external dj a guest pass, and she said nothing of this fee...I too was only aware of the $500 photography fee, not a dj fee. How did you find out about this?

Hi ladies!  Our wedding was on 6/25/11, and we didn't have to pay extra for an outside DJ.  I don't know when the change was made and if they're honoring their prior bookings before the rule was made.  But, DJ Doremixx was definitely worth every penny.  No one sat down the whole reception, including my parents who are in their late 60s.

EVERYTHING was beautiful, amazing, and more than I ever imagined.  Our coordinator, Luciana, was absolutely on point with everything we wanted and quite possibly the nicest person I've ever met.  I'm going to get a review up here soon, once I get some photos back.

We did not go with the Mac Daddy package, but we paid for the little extras.  There is a main lobby bar in which you can meet up with your guests for a general meeting point.  I was very happy with what we chose.  Of course, I would have loved to see the Presidential Suite, but I was happy just to be at the resort :)

The only bummer is that we had rain on our wedding and two days after. We still did the ceremony on the beach and made it until the ring exchange before some rain came down.  Hopefully, the old wives' tale is correct about rain being good luck on your wedding day :)

Being married is great :)  Even after dating my husband for eight years, it's finally nice to be married!

Hi Ladies,

I spent a few days reading all the posts to get up to speed.  I started planning about a month ago and we have reserved our wedding date for Nov. 10, 2011 at Lindo.  But reading through all the posts, I'm considering switching to Del Mar for a nicer reception?

We booked the Dreams Blessing Package since there are a lot of extras in the upgrade package that we won't need.  But I do want to add the private reception and maybe the cocktail hour.  Is it worth to spend the money on it?

I am working with Lily, who hasn't been too responsive to me.  Has anyone else have had the same problem?  I send her the first email and after a week when I didn't get a response I contacted the original wedding sales person, Idalia, to get my message across.  After which I did receive a prompt reply from Lily.  Now I just emailed her again and almost a week has gone by without any reply...

Can someone provide me a link to the pictures that were taken by the Iberostar Photographers.  Also how is their videographers?  Also if someone can tell me what are the options for the DJ from the hotel, that would be a great help!

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello Canmaya Bride,

Someone may have already answered this..... Still catching up on all the new posts, but yes you can stay at one of the other Iberostar hotels on the property and have your reception at the Del Mar - it's the way we're doing it. I'm getting married on Dec. 10, 2011 (moved the date over, now I'm going crazy trying to finish all the details!!)  My FI and I are staying at the Grand, and having the reception at the open air restaurant at the Del Mar

When talking to reyna tonight i asked if we were staying at the lindo if we could have the wedding (ceremony and recpetion) at the del mar and she said yes...This seemed odd to me since i have previously heard different..I sent her an email again tonight to reconfirm.

HOLA Erin,  sorry I didnt see this message when it was posted, but obviously it was my pleasure meeting you and I just wanted to say thank you again for trusting me for your wedding day!

*My advice for most brides is to always look first for an outside vendor for the reasons you suggest :)  Plus, I enjoyed doing your makeup in the ROOM vs over in their spa... Another tip for brides, enjoy your space and on the wedding day, too much time in the SPA is not advised...  enjoy your friends and your campaign in YOUR room :)  + make up :) saludos and congrats on your new married life amiga!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
