Hannah,

My wedding is June 11, 2011 which is actually between yours and Lindo626. I would appreciate if the starfish can be passed to me ans then I will pass it on to Lindo626.

BTW, thanks for the comforting words, its so nice to know that there are people who know exactly how you feel.

I would have if I could afford it....I spent $3300 to take my guests on a private catamaran as a thank you gift and have lobster tails grilled for everyone - that is so important to me, and I am sacraficing on a photographer and DJ just to make it happen - but to each their own, right...lol

Dont stress about the number of people attending...I started to do that too...we currently have 56 people booked (but about 11 of those people just booked within the past month or so)....and now I am freaking out because I have to pay the 12/pp for everyone after the first 2 hrs...lol....BUT, even though we have that many people, we are still very disappointed in a few - my fiances dad and brother wont be there - he is very upset and I feel really bad for him - but HE actually reminds me that the people that are coming are the people we need to focus our attention on....the people that are making US feel important are the people WE should make feel important - whether it is 5 or 50 people, think of those people, not all the ones that arent thinking about you!!

Lindo626 - I dont think I know your name..lol...I will mail the starfish to you after I get back since you are the month after me, right???  I dont think there is anyone in between us....

Erin - Thanks for the heads up on the hair cost - that is CRAZY...they offered me 10% off...lol...so that makes it like $90 instead of $100...haha  I think my mom will be the only one to get her hair done...

Erin,

Did the make-up guy need a minimum of 4 people in order for him to come to the hotel? Does he have a salon? Tara gave me 2 names, however I think one was a make-up artist and the other one did hair. I did e-mail them both today, so I hope that I hear back soon.

I got my hair & make up done at the salon in the Iberostar & the lady was great.  She put my extensions in for the 'practice' run & then again a few days later for the wedding and they looked amazing,  I was really happy with it.  But YES-that salon is pricey.  None of my girls got their hair done there.  My mom did-but she just had them wash & blow dry it out straight and that cost her $90!  I looked into having the guy Tara got come & do my make up and maybe hair, but he needed a minimum of 4 people at $100 each.  I already spent TONS on gifts for my girls (i.e. Coach purses, personalized flip flops & beach bags and Coach sunglasses) I couldn't do another $500-which is what it would have been for me-and that is just make up OR hair....not both.

Thanks for the pictures of the beach reception. I love the idea of having the reception on the beach and it does make me mad too that they charge you extra (plus the minimum of 50 people) to have it on the beach when a lot of other resorts let it be for free on the beach. But the pictures look amazing and I think it would be an incredible experience to have everyone dancing on the beach under the lights! We are still early in the planning stages but we are thinking about it! The only thing that I really like about the Iberostar is that Reyna told me they do not charge a vendor fee (except for the photographer). Many resorts make you buy a day pass and still charge you a fee. I love the grand but they charge even more for a beach wedding so the Lindo might be the better option. Has anyone gotten married at the Grand on the beach?

Thanks!

Nicole

The price was for him to come to us at the hotel, but I know he has a place in Playa del Carmen, but there was no way I was traveling off property on the wedding day.  I wanted it to be as stress-free as possible.  The salon on site did a great job & I was happy with them.  Tara would be able to tell you that guy's name and info, as I got it from her.

Being in the very early stages of planning and still undecided on a resort, I was wondering how the packages work at Iberostar. I asked Reyna about it but I am still unclear. The pacakges include things but are very vague...like bridesmaid bouquet or centerpieces. Do you get to pick the flowers and design of the centerpiece? If you don't like the choices, can you 'upgrade' (for example to have an orchid bouquet?). What has your experiences been like with the wedding coordinators (either the Lindo or the Grand) dealing with the details of your weddings?

Thanks!

Hi everyone!  It's been a few weeks so thought I would drop in to say hi!  WOW so many new girls...welcome!!  Things have been so crazy lately.  Jeff had his back surgery and is doing well.  I had my shower and bach Saturday and it was awesome!!  So many great family and friends to celebrate with and it was so much fun.  We got SO MANY presents it's insane.  Out dining room and kitchen are packed!  We also got married yesterday haha!!!  YAY!!!!  We went to City Hall for our legal marriage since it seems like such a pain in the butt to legally get married in Mexico.  It was amazing...now just have to get through Mexico in a few weeks!!!

So I feel like I still have a lot to do...AAHHH.  We sent all our final details to Karla.  I'm finalizing the centerpieces with the outside florist now.  We have to get DJ Doremixx our music list in a week and I'm stressing about that.  I want to just tell him to play good fun music haha.  He sent us a list to look through that is 50 pages long.  Jeff and his guys have to get shirts still and their suits altered.  I'm going to my 2nd fitting today, which is making me nervous b/c I ate my way through this weekend :).  We still have to do escort cards that are color coded with people's dinner choice.  Have to make table numbers.  Have to decide on a welcome book/idea.  Have to figure out how I'm getting all this crap to Mexico haha.  Lets see...what else.  I just feel like I can't even concentrate any more!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
