Hi Hannah,

I was wondering if you would be kind enough to share your diet with me. I recently lost 10 lbs, but I am struggling to lose any more. My second fitting fitting is April 11, 2011 and I would love to lose some more weight. My e-mail address is [email protected]

Hey Olga - your wedding is RIGHT behind mine ;)   I am so jealous you are having the beach reception - how much are they charging you?  They wanted an extra $50/pp on top of the Mac Daddy package price from me ;(

ERIN - Did anyone else get their hair done for your wedding?? If so, was it at the salon at the Del Mar?  And how much?  They sent me the price list showing $95 for an updo and I about fell off my seat - that is like double what it costs here!!

Erin,

Congrats on becoming a Mrs. I was only able to see the two pictures that you posted in this forum, and you looked absolutely beautiful. I would love to see some more pictures, if you are willing to share cheesy.gif.  BTW, itâ€s so crazy about the best man. I have to say that has to be the shocking story that I have ever heard of. Things like that should only happen in movies, not a few days before your wedding. I donâ€t know what I would have done, if I were in your place. I probably would have had a breakdown. But I am glad to hear that your “perfect day†was perfect and everything worked out in the end.

My wedding is fast approaching; I can't believe that itâ€s less than 3 months away. I am getting married at Lindo on June 11, 2011. I am having the ceremony at the Kiosk Gazebo and a beach reception.

As I read in some of the previous posts, I too can relate to the frustration of friends and family backing out of the wedding. As someone mentioned, people donâ€t realize how they may hurt your feelings. When we initially started to plan our DW, we were realistic and knew that not everyone that we invited would attend. However, some of the No's that we got truly shocked us, well at least ME. First, I found out that my Matron of Honor was not going to be a part of the wedding nor was she attending. And the best part is that I had to get that out of her, because she was waiting to tell me. Thus, I had to ask someone else in my bridal party to now be my Maid of Honor. So as most of you can imagine, it was a pretty crappy situation to be in. Because it now seems that that other person is my “second†choice. Nevertheless, my sister accepted the duty and really didnâ€t give me any crap about being my “second†choice. Then I found out that most of my family (aunt, uncle, and all of my cousins) are not going to be able to make it to the wedding. Each and every excuse seemed to be more ridiculous than the previous one. I should mention that when we started the planning process, everyone was on board, but when it was time for the deposit, the suddenly realized that they cannot attend. It is so frustrating!!!hissyfit.gif

With the help of my Amazing Fiancé, I decided that I will not let this get me down. I came to a realization that this is about him and I. So if those people do not want to be a part of our “special day†then itâ€s their loss. We will be happy to have our closest friends and those family members who actually want to celebrate with us. With that said we have 24 people (including us) who will be there with us dancing the night away.

Sorry about this long post, its been a while. I guess this was building up for a while.

I look forward to catching up!

~Olga~

Hello Olga,

We were looking into having a beach reception but Reyna mentioned that you needed a minium of 50 people for a beach reception at the Grand. It there a minimum number of people needed for a beach reception at the Lindo? Does anyone have any pictures of a beach reception at any of the resorts?

Thanks!

They are charging me $50 per person with a minimum of 50 people, which I do not have. At first I was super irritated and really upset. I found this out while speaking to Reyna on the phone. It took me forever to actually get in contact with her and when she told me that I would still have to pay for 50 people (even though I was not going to have 50 people attending my wedding) I actually ended the conversation as quickly as humanly possible and hung up. I did even ask any of the other questions that I so desperately wanted answered, I was that upset. I pretty much had a breakdown. After I got that out my system, I decided that I was going to have a beach reception no matter what. So it sucks spending all this money for pretty much nothing. But if this is what it will take then be it.

I know that Tara got her hair and make-up done by an outside vendor. She gave me the names and contact info for both the hairdresser and the makeup artist. I checked out their website, and both of them have pictures of the work that they have done. I know for a fact that the makeup artist has airbrush mac makeup, which should look amazing. I think I will definitely go that route. It is a bit pricey however its my wedding day and I want to look flawless. If any of you girls are interested let me know, I can pass on the contact info.

I would also love to be included in the star fish pass along.

Lindo also requires a minimum of 50 people, which I will not have. They told me that if I want to have a beach reception then I must pay for 50 people regardless. After a lot of consideration and tears I decided that I was going to go thru with it. It just sucks paying $$$ for nothing, I would much rather use that money for something else. I guess if you want it bad enough, you will spend the money. I swear they try to get as much out of you as they can.

Here a pic that Reyna sent to me, its a bit dark, but you can atleast get an idea. I was told that the lights are not included. I will also have a light up dance floor, that my DJ will be providing. It will be somthing like the picture below. I really feel it will add that extra something.

I totally understand where you are coming from with people backing out on coming to the wedding. It really hurt my feelings and made me SUPER mad! It is hard to stay focused for a minute especially when you look at some of the people that have already paid for their whole trip and are willing to help you do whatever you need. My friends have turned out to be better with my DW than most of my family. Keep your head up everything will go great!

Hannah-

I got my hair & make up done at the salon in the Iberostar & the lady was great.  She put my extensions in for the 'practice' run & then again a few days later for the wedding and they looked amazing,  I was really happy with it.  But YES-that salon is pricey.  None of my girls got their hair done there.  My mom did-but she just had them wash & blow dry it out straight and that cost her $90!  I looked into having the guy Tara got come & do my make up and maybe hair, but he needed a minimum of 4 people at $100 each.  I already spent TONS on gifts for my girls (i.e. Coach purses, personalized flip flops & beach bags and Coach sunglasses) I couldn't do another $500-which is what it would have been for me-and that is just make up OR hair....not both.

Girls - the beach reception is outrageously priced!! The one downfall to the Iberostar chain is they way they stick it to you with prices...every other destination wedding I have been to - they have thrown stuff if for free with more guests, not iberostar, they just keep charging you...and I dont think ANYONE has found a way around it....Keep in mind that they may ALSO charge you for one of the packages, and then the additional $50/pp.....BUT, I agree, if it is what you want, and you can swing it, then go for it! I would have if I could afford it....I spent $3300 to take my guests on a private catamaran as a thank you gift and have lobster tails grilled for everyone - that is so important to me, and I am sacraficing on a photographer and DJ just to make it happen - but to each their own, right...lol

Dont stress about the number of people attending...I started to do that too...we currently have 56 people booked (but about 11 of those people just booked within the past month or so)....and now I am freaking out because I have to pay the 12/pp for everyone after the first 2 hrs...lol....BUT, even though we have that many people, we are still very disappointed in a few - my fiances dad and brother wont be there - he is very upset and I feel really bad for him - but HE actually reminds me that the people that are coming are the people we need to focus our attention on....the people that are making US feel important are the people WE should make feel important - whether it is 5 or 50 people, think of those people, not all the ones that arent thinking about you!!

Lindo626 - I dont think I know your name..lol...I will mail the starfish to you after I get back since you are the month after me, right???  I dont think there is anyone in between us....

Erin - Thanks for the heads up on the hair cost - that is CRAZY...they offered me 10% off...lol...so that makes it like $90 instead of $100...haha  I think my mom will be the only one to get her hair done...

Hi Hannah,

I never heard back from you about the starfish.... am I leaving it at the resort with Karla or would you like me to mail it to you once we get back? If mail then PM me your address please! OMG...... 15 days till we leave!!!! I can't believe it's coming so fast! I had my bridal shower last weekend and that was awsome and tomorrow I have my "bachelorette" shindig..... I think anyway! My friends are being very secretive with me about it.... I have no idea what we are doing, where we are going or even who is coming! All I know is I have to be ready at noon and that is when I am being picked up! This does not help me plan my outfits at all!!!!!!! Oh well I am sure it will be great whatever it is!

2 weeks..... 2 weeks..... 2 weeks!!! CRAZY!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
