Hello everyone!

I am new to this thread, for I was originally have a wedding at Dreams Cancun May 2012 till the WC emailed me and said they can longer have my wedding there for they have decided to shut the hotel for 9 months for renovations.  Although I was in a bit of a panic, Iberostar Mar/Beach was our 2nd pick, so maybe it's just telling me it's meant to be!   I have not emailed any of the WC's of Iberostar yet to make sure my date is available (it's a Monday so I'm thinking it should be?) but I have a big question for you ladies that have already been there..... can someone please email me (KaraWallenstein@gmail.com) or even add to facebook if that helps to see some, pictures of the Mar wedding.  I've read through the thread so have lots of helpful information thanks to all of you, but have not been able to see very many pictures of the location/reception/ceremony.    Another question is, on this side of the island are the waves rough?  I've been to Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal when I was younger and LOVED it, but we have some eldery/handicapped people in our wedding so I don't want it to be too rocky/wavy.

Thanks ladies!

Kara

Hey there all you iberostar brides.

I am definitly getting married at the iberostar this january my dilemma is WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE..Its very difficult. I was leaning towards the lindo and have heard many great things about this resort however, i love the open look of the del mar reception. Can i stay at the lindo but book the reception at the del mar? Also the Tucan looks nice but i dont know if they have the dream package which is the package i am definitly going with.

Any recommendations would be very helpful as i have our group rates out and have a week to decide to get the price that is offered right now....

THANKS SO MUCH

Hello! If you read back a few pages you will see that a few others wanted to stay at the Lindo and have the reception at the Del Mar but I don't believe they were allowed to do that. The Lindo & Maya have a different restaurant they use for receptions and they also have different wedding coordinators too. The Tucan is not part of the complex.... it is further south (past Playa del Carmen I think) so they would also have their own wedding coordinator. I would email them directly to find out if their packages are the same or not.

Hope this helps a little bit! We leave in 3 weeks for our wedding.... staying at Beach and having our reception at the open air restaurant at Del Mar!

Thanks Hanna 20 for your response and how exciting !!! 3 weeks is going to come so fast!!

When talking to reyna tonight i asked if we were staying at the lindo if we could have the wedding (ceremony and recpetion) at the del mar and she said yes...This seemed odd to me since i have previously heard different..I sent her an email again tonight to reconfirm.

Hopefully Reyna can clear things up for you and give you a definitive answer.... As for your question about whether or not it would be too cold to have your reception in the open air restaurant in Dec... I think you would be alright. It won't be "hot" and some people may need a cardigan but it definitely won't be freezing! You can always do a google search for average temps in the Riviera Maya in Dec and that should give you a better idea of what kind of temp you should expect. I also saw your post in another thread about photographers and I wanted to make sure you knew that the Iberostar charges a penalty if you bring in an external photographer. We chose to pay the penalty so we could use someone other than the resort photographer but some people may not want to fork out the money for the penalty (I think the penalty may be as much as $500 now!).

They may allow you to book at the Del Mar & stay at the Lindo during the 'off season..' That's the only reason I can figure that they'd not allow it for Feb-June but allow it in December?  I would absolutely make sure that is the case though and that there's no confusion because once the invites are out and things are booked, it would be a pain to change.  I just got married at the Del Mar on Valentine's day and LOVED it.  Everyone stayed there too and it was amazing.  I know the Lindo/Maya costs more too, which was one of the main reasons we decided to stay at the Del Mar-to make it as affordable as possible so our family and friends could swing it.  We also did the dream package and had the reception at the open air restaurant.  I couldn't have imagined a more perfect place, coordinator and package.  We are SO glad we went with that.  It even includes things you don't think about-like pressing your gown & your fiance's clothes for the wedding.  They took the gown on a Friday (we got married on a Monday) and it was pressed & ready for me to get into on the wedding day hanging up in the presidential suite! (all included in the package)  So I didn't have to worry about my husband seeing it before the ceremony.  And you get upgraded to the presidential suite, but STILL keep your normal room, so it's not like you have to pack up all of your things

for a night!  It's the best!!!

The outside venue could be chilly in December, but you won't need jackets-just a cover up.  My girls all brought cardigans & they didn't even use them.  It's good to have those anyway, just in case!

The date is now set! January 4th at the del mar. We are staying at the lindo but the wedding will be at the del mar. I double checked this with Reyna and she said this did recently change and that it is fine to have it at the del mar! AHH :) i am soo excited i have been singing and dancing around the house. My fiance thinks i have gone coo coo lol

Hanna 20 - I cant believe they charge $500 now! Thats crazy. So what to do....Do you use there photographer? Does anyone know how i can check out pics with the hotels photographer? Has anyone used the resorts photographer?

Oh and my name is Courtney

I am sorry i am posting soo many questions on here..

I agree with you erin the del mar is definitely more feasible. Since you stayed there could you explain the difference. Did you feel limited since you cant go onto the other sites? How does it work with the disco? What about nightly entertainment does it have the best at a certain resort at the iberostar? When your on the beach how close are you to the snack bars and such? I am just in the process of getting prices from our TA and don't want to make a mistake by choosing the lindo over the del mar. Do you think the lindo would be worth paying 200/person more?

I just don't want our guests to feel limited and want them to use whatever bar and eat wherever they want.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
