Lo I am stuck in the same problem. And I have all 85 guests with this issue now. I cant believe this is happening and I can't believe that Mexicana is not responsible for getting everyone onto other flights.

Ya...this is obviously not great. And seriously 5 weeks before my wedding as if I don't have enough going on.

Guests should be able to get refunds...but the fact that they have to travel on dif days now and pay so much more is really frustrating.

I'm honestly not sure there is anything that can be done. So I'm not getting stressed. From what I gather, they can apply for a refund and will need to re-book on another airline, and the price is double for my guests and it is what it is. There's really nothing I can do as far as I know.

Hi ladies,

I am with Lo on this one and it sucks majorly. I was told though it can take months to get the refund if at all. I was advised to have everyone call their credit card company and dispute the charges.

I am just waiting for our TA to see if the fund can just be transferred to the new flights and pay the difference. Having said that if people change from direct to connecting there is not much of a price difference. So at the worst we can offer everyone that option.

Lo- what are you guys going to do?  We have one couple that setup a contingency plan with american if mexicana cancelled their flight. I think they know someone that works for american so she set them up.  But I have 2 other couples that booked through travelocity.  They will rebook flights as soon as mexicana formally cancels them but it doesnt seem like they are any time soon.

How were you able to switch your guests to American? Did you have to pay the fare difference?

One person got a message that they were changing our flight to mexico city to PVR with a layover.  We had originally picked this flight because it was direct.  So I had EVERYONE call that day and fight with mexicana.  They actually allowed everyone to switch to a direct american flight.  It was so stressful because they told some people no and some yes.  So a few people had to call all day to finally talk to someone that would change it.  I cant tell you how lucky we are that we did it that day....they filed for bankruptcy later that week.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
