A Wedding without Bridesmaids or Groomsmen?

I will not be having bridesmaids and groomsmen as well because it was just to much confusion that I did not need. We just moved 3 months before the wedding due to work and I just decided it made more sense.I am planning by myself with the exception of my fiance input from time to time. But overall on my own. Oh let me not forget my grandma she is truly a blessing.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one not having a bridal party. I chose not to have a bridal party b/c of the exact reason you listed ammorris17

Tuff - you certainly aren't the only one! We didn't have a formal bridal party either, because of that same reason. And really, everyone who attended was our party - we didn't have to leave anyone out.

For photos, we still took pics with "my girls" and "his guys", they just didn't have matching outfits on or stand up next to us for the ceremony. It wasn't "less" of a wedding because we went this route.

Glad to see I am not the only one out there not having a wedding party.

After the one person my fiance wanted to be his best man can't attend our DW we kind of decided to not have a wedding party. I do feel a bit sad about this, but think it will end up being okay. We're 2.5 months out and "determine wedding party" is still on my to-do list, so chances are it won't end up happening. We're doing a symbolic ceremony in Mexico, so you don't even need witnesses anyways. One of my brothers will be the officiant for us.

My niece and nephew will have jobs, but that's more for fun than being an actual wedding party. A flower girl and possibly ring/bearer or sign-carrier. Haven't decided yet.

I'm doing something similar. No wedding party but my neice will be my "junior" bridesmaid and my stepson will be "honorary" bestman. That's it.

I decided to forgo having a wedding party too for several reasons. We are a group of 21 total and I just told my friends and family honestly that I couldn't choose - I'd have half the wedding party up there with me! I have been in weddings before and the cost of a dress on top of my flight and everything else left a very sour taste. I never was able to wear the dress again and sold the originally $200 dress for a mere $20 afterward. I also think the photos tend to get a little cheesy -I would rather have a nice group photo or individual photos than silly poses...but I know I may be alone in that.

In the end it saved us hassle, avoided any hurt feelings ( I know it wouldn't have caused any "drama" but people might have felt hurt or less important), it also saved us money - as no additonal bouquets were required or gifts other than favors.

We are planning on having my mother stand with me (to hold my bouqet) and help with my dress and my fiances dad stand by him to hold on to the rings. His mother will be giving a reading and my dad will walk me down the aisle. My sisters will also be giving readings (his siblings cannot make the trip unfortunately)... they will act as witnesses for our magistrates ceremony before the wedding. This way all of the immediate family is included somehow at somepoint.

I had more than one amazing friend(s) family members approach me regarding the bachelorette party & shower so I wouldn't worry about those things ...they happen with or without a bridal party. Most importantly do what you like - it's your day!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
