Wedding Coordinatiors VS Brides

Recommended Posts

love.gifIs it common practice for a Wedding Coordinator to get a better rate than a Bride inquiring for the SAME item?  I would like to get the Vendors input here, because if it is true than I better get myself a coordinator.  Or does this happen sometimes by mistake, I understand these things happen.  Has anyone else fallen victim to different rates depending on who was asking?

I bet they do get better rates in a lot of cases, but that makes sense.  They are frequent customers, and often can buy "in bulk" or at least promise future business.  In theory, a bride is a one time customer so a vendor may not be able to offer them the same price.  BUT since you usually need to pay a WC, think about what you'd pay them vs. what you'd save with those vendors that do offer a better price.  Something to consider!

At first I was planning to organize my DW all by myself but as I don´t live in Cancun I couldn´t do it so I got a WC and she takes a lot of work out of my back. She gets good deals for me as she buys  " in bulk" and she knows the place, the flowers for the season, ans so on. It´s me who decides but she has been really helpful. I guess if you put everything in a balance you will end up paying about the same but you will be exhausted from all the planning and on your wedding day you need someone to take care of everything while you enjoy your day!!

The biggest thing to consider here (and this directly affects pricing at times) is that MANY WC's actually may get a commission based on the vendor they are recommending and this can have an impact on the rates they are getting for certain products...

I have heard from WC's (specifically our own wedding coord yazmin de lamora), that there are vendors who often supply more like "Wedding decor suggested" above in their post, so discounted rates are offered as well.

Good luck with your planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
