Invitations for AHR

Recommended Posts

Ok. I will try not to ramble too much here...

We are probably getting married in Mexico (or some destination for sure) with only our immediate family. We plan on having a reception when we get back and I would like to do it within a few weeks of the wedding, which means invitations should go out before the wedding since many people will have to travel. How much notice do I need to give for the reception? We are planning the wedding for March 2008 so I would like the reception in April I guess. I was originally planning to send invites after the wedding so i could include a picture but obviously that timeline won't work.

and how do I word such a thing? "you aren't invited to our wedding but come to a party?" haha

I hope this makes sense.jiggy.gif

Here's how I worded mine:

Mr. and Mrs. James Michalsen

And

Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Kowalewski

Request the honour of your presence at a Reception to celebrate the marriage of their daughter,

Amy Elaine

To

Mr. Kevin Michael Lindell,

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lindell

Please join us on Saturday, the fourth of August,

Two thousand and seven at 6 oâ€clock in the evening

Hawkâ€s View Banquet Hall,

11189 Forest Hills Road

Machesney Park, Illinois

Adults Only Reception

Ceremony will take place on the fifth of July in

Playa Del Carmen, Mexico!

We let out-of-town people know as soon as we set the date for the reception, then I sent them out about a week or so before we left (about 6 weeks prior to the reception).

My aunt and uncle were married in Rome last October, and then had a reception when they returned to the states. They sent out their AHR invites immediately after they got back from Rome and the date of the AHR was about 7-8 weeks after their wedding. They phrased it something like this: "(bride's name) and (groom's name) were married in Rome on October 6, 2006. Please join them for a reception at The Ashton Hotel to celebrate their marriage on November xx, 2006."

I prefer the idea of sending them after our wedding. Maybe I will plan the reception for about 6-8 weeks later and just pass the word along earlier to those who will have to travel. Now we just have to decide whether to have it in CA (where we live and my family is) or in CO (where his family is).

although, the first decision needs to be the weddinng location...

I'm including AHR info with our invitations. I don't want to spend even more money on stamps and invites.

Click the image to open in full size.

An insert page wil have detailed info with AHR directions and lodging. RSVP cards will have a spot for each event (DW, SC AHR & MD AHR).

Do you think it's okay to ask for RSVP's for the AHR's that early (mailing out invites in October and asking for late November RSVP--since resort wants final payments from TA 60 days prior, which would be February).

I know you said you want to save on stamps but maybe do separate RSVP cards for the wedding and the AHR if it's not as important to get an early head count for the AHR.

My wedding will be immediate family only-6 people. The AHR is for all the people who aren't invited to the wedding so unfortunatly combining the invites won't work for me.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
