Groom Wearing Shorts?

Recommended Posts

Are any of your fiancee's wearing shorts?

Mine said he'd really like to wear tan shorts and a nice linen button down.  I'm okay with the casual shirt... but will the shorts look stupid when I'm wearing a wedding dress?  Although my dress is simple, it's floor-length.

Your thoughts?

If my FI wanted to wear shorts I would be fine with that as long as they where a nice looking JCREW/BANANA Republic pair. Mine FI will probably end up wearing light colored pants with a short sleeve shirt, no tie or coat.

We are going with an all white wedding. So as long as they fit those colors I dont really care.

My dress is tea length tho and nontraditional. I might feel otherwise if my dress was complicated and traditional.

My FI is wearing shorts and I love it.  I too am wearing a true wedding gown, although a somewhat simple one.  He has great legs, doesn't like formal wear, and I figure this is a great compromise.  Plus, we are going to be on the beach after all!

Hmmm, I don't know about that one.  I personally think shorts are a bit too casual.  I realize it's on the beach, but it is still a wedding.  I feel like there should be some type of formality, especially if you are wearing a long dress.  Ultimately, it's *your* wedding, and you know what look you want in your pictures.  If you're okay with it, then that's all that matters!

I agree that shorts seems a bit too casual for me!  My fiance also wanted to wear shorts but I definitely put an end to that one.  We compromised on a long-sleeved linen shirt with rolled up sleeves, khaki linen pants and brown leather sandals.  I think he is happy he won't be wearing a suit and tie, so he feels like he won too....

My fiance wanted to wear board shorts...he seemed to think beach wedding meant he could wear what he normally would on the beach.  But he'll be wearing linen pants, a white shirt with rolled up sleeves and sandals.  Shorts might be too casual compared to a wedding dress, but it might depend on how he looks in them!

You definitely have to be careful with the type of shorts if you're doing it.

lyndsay_h - you cracked me up there! I think more than a few hubbies think board shorts would be ok for a wedding, thank goodness we don't let them.  (Unless you were in a bikini getting married on a boat - that's a little too Pam Anderson style for me :S)

My brother in law wore his favorite grey linen shorts for their wedding in Barbados (just the two of them) with some nice brown leather sandals (I call them his mandals) and I thought their pictures turned out great.  I'll attach one so you girls can see.quinette.jpg

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
