Punta Cana Reviews and Advice Needed

Recommended Posts

Hello lovely ladies!  We are interested in getting married at the resorts listed below in Punta Cana. We are expecting about 40-50 guests which seems to be a lot for a destination wedding. I’m concerned because I want to get married outside near the beach but not on the beach. Truth is.. I’m short (5’0”) and I love wearing heels. I don’t think heels will be great on the sand. I know this sounds silly but I’m just not comfortable flat footed. Are there good alternatives to an actual "beach" wedding?

Does anyone have a recommendation regarding any of these resorts? We also want to have the reception at an outdoor restaurant but worry about the size of the party.

Paradisus Punta Cana

Dreams Palm Beach

Riu

Barceló Bavaro Palace

Thanks all!!

I'm in the same boat! 5'0 and not thrilled about being bare foot on my special day. Heels just make you feel complete when your all dressed up;-)

In regards to your selected locations my cousin just had her wedding at the Paradisus May 2010 and it was beautiful. No compliants from her or the guest. Plus the price was within her budget

I'm looking into Punta Cana as well for my wedding plans. But I'm sure which ever one you pick will be beautiful. Good luck with your planning and definitely find some SHARP heels!

I have not been to any of those resorts but I would recommend Dreams Palm Beach.

I'm not a fan of the decor at RIU resorts, Barcelo is okay but I think around the same price for a 4-4.5 star resort and PPC (I'm booked there) is very frustrating to work with and really expensive because they seem to nickle and dime you more than other resorts and make a lot of changes year to year (ex: alcohol incl in cocktail time one year, not in another year. same with unlimited golf 2010, no golf 2011. that's a big difference in $$ value....hundreds!!)

My final 4 were Majestic Elegance, Excellence Punta Cana, Dreams Palm Beach, and PPC. Dreams was the smallest of all but honestly now I feel I should have gone with them. The decor looks beautiful and smaller doesn't mean not as good - I think it would have a more intimate feel than a megaresort and apparently the food is great. Their wedding packages are much cheaper than PPC, too.

i am newly engaged and we are strongly considering a destination wedding. dreams palm beach is the first place that i fell for while searching around online. i wanted to get some more feedback on the place from people that have actually had their wedding there. i few family members were concerned with the travel advisory for the domincian, i guess because it is so close to haiti. and feedback you can give me will be very much appreciated!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
