We are going to Belize after our wedding in Playa del Carmen.  If you are getting married near the Riviera Maya, it's a great place and it's fairly easy & cheap to get to get to Ambergris Caye (a gorgeous Belizean island) from Chetumal, a city on the Mexican Border.

We are taking a bus from Playa del Carmen to Chetumal (4 hours), the bus is very safe and very nice!  Then when you arrive in Chetumal you take a cab to the Main Port where they have 2 very reliable companies that have daily water taxi trips directly. The water taxi is an hour and your in beautiful Belize!  After staying 3 nights on the island we are flying inland (only $40 pp) and staying in the jungle in Belize for 4 nights at a very romantic treehouse suite.  I'm SO excited!  Then we fly from Belize back home.

PM me if you'd like more details!

My fiance and i are doing the same thing(kinda)..we are also going to Belize but staying on one of their private islands in a cabana on the waters edge. We are flying from Cancun into Belize airport and then the resort is taking care of the remaining transportation. Then we are returning to Cancun to return home!

I have looked for flights from Cancun to Belize and I can't find any.  What airline did you use?

Aruba is also a gorgeous place for a honeymoon. There are hotels near Oranjestad (the capital) where we stayed at the Renaissance Hotel & Casino. The great part about that hotel is they have their own private island that only those staying at the hotel are allowed to use! They have private boats that take you directly from the hotel (literally in the lobby) to the island in about 5 minutes! The rooms were absolutely gorgeous, clean & modern.

Another idea if you're already going to be in Mexico is to honeymoon where I was married, at Excellence Riviera Cancun. It's an adults only, all inclusive that reallly caters to it being a romantic hotel. Most people there tend to be honeymooners or romantic getaways! All Junior Suites have a jacuzzi bathtub, clean and beautiful (with more of a Mexican/tropical decor), the grounds are immaculate and there is the ability to have privacy at so many different parts of the hotel. There is an Excellence Club side and a regular side. In my opinion after looking at a room on the club side, is that they're extremely similar with the exception of a fully stocked bar in the room on the club side (but remember, it's all inclusive so it doesn't matter that much).

There are a ton of opportunities for a romantic honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas as well. A lot of properties are timeshares that are rented out throughout the year and some have some insanely gorgeous views, private plunge pools, built into cliffs, etc!

Hope that helps and let me know if there are any questions! I have other suggestions if you're interested in venturing farther, but these would be my recommendations if you want to stay in that side of the world!

We went to Costa Rica http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/28056/del-sol-photography-honeymoon-in-costa-rica'

Inside Mexico (Mayan Riviera) WE LOVE:

Watch this video to see why we call it our home away from home:

a few photos here: http://delsolphotography.com/blog/post-485/Hotel-Esencia-ultimate-indulgence

www.alcielohotel.com (a little more rustic but wow)

A video to see our 1st anniversary experience there: http://vimeo.com/2525353

Ok, so those 2 locations are actually side by side and are TOTALLY different in design / presentation.   Corona rents out these places to do their photo shoots, so this tells you how AMAZINGLY PERFECT the location is...

Also, I'm going to recommend Le Reve...

happy hunting :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
