Gran Porto Real Brides - Post here!!

Recommended Posts

I still haven't made up my mind about which resort I should go for huh.gif. I keep coming back to the Gran Porto. I have been looking at Now Sapphire as well, since their beach is more private, but then again their resort is bigger....decision, decisions....

It's so hard to pick a resort, isn't it? We were so stressed out trying to find the 'perfect' one. lol Sounds like you've been doing your research so at this point I say go with your gut instinct.

For me, personally, I liked the fact that GP is smaller and super close to 5th Ave. Plus it's only 30 mins from Cancun :)

Yes, I am still stressing out. I do like the fact that GP is smaller, and have cut all the huge resorts from my list. The other one I'm looking at right now is NOW Sapphire Riviera Cancun, a little bigger but looks really nice as well. We are really focusing on trying to find a resort that is affordable for our guests and we are very flexible when it comes to the date (which makes it almost harder to make a decision).

i agree totally - it is very difficult to choose!! there are simply SO MANY.  i got to a point where i was going in circles looking at all the resorts and i just kept coming back to the gran porto, so decided to go for it.  also, our TA recommended the gran porto and they nixed a lot of resorts from our list for various reasons, so it was nice to know that the gran porto had passed their screening process.

if it helps at all, i have been having discussions with vendors in the area, mainly photographers, and all of them keep emailing me back telling me how AMAZING the gran porto is as a resort and as a location.  very affirming!

I was saying in another post that my uncle went to the travel agents to book and a lady that worked there over heard him booking the GPR and she came over and was telling my uncle that she used to have an office in the hotel and that its fabulous! He said she wouldn't stop going on about how nice it is.

I came to choose GPR by fluke. When I was looking it kept coming up as a favourite, but then I would always find another hotel were one aspect was slightly nicer, but then it also had a draw back. In the end I went to book my 1st choice but there was complications which meant we couldn't go there. I got so upset and stressed out I just panicked and said book GPR and Im so glad I did so far, I've heard nothing but good things. I suppose it was meant to be. x

that is how it happened for me too!! i was so stressed out and tired of looking at resort after resort and finding things wrong with them, and, in the end i just kept coming back to GPR.  since i have booked it, i have been emailing some with photographers and other vendors and EVERYONE keeps telling me how lovely the hotel is.  so, seems like it was a great choice!

while i have no interest in pushing you towards one resort or another, primavera i WILL guarantee you that as soon as you decide, the planning process becomes generally much less stressful :)

kj1606, I believe that you're right about feeling less stressed after i finally book a resort....I think that is part of why I'm so stressed, I know to move on with the planning I need to make a decision on the resort and date.

One thing that worries me a little about GP is that the beach is not private. I'm worried that it will be too crowded with tourists from other hotels.

Thanks for sharing how you guys picked your resorts, that helps a lot!! :)

I've opted to have a private reception on the beach, I figured since we're having a DW I don't want to be cooped up in a ballroom for the reception. Besides, it's only for 3 hours! The wedding planner I'm dealing with at the resort is Denisse and she's fantastic! Very helpful and returns all my emails promptly. We're currently trying to figure out how to go about stringing paper lanterns above our beachfront reception venue.

Hi Dilara!

I am a Newbie - just found this site today. :o)

We are wedding date twins!  How funny is that!

B and I are getting married 11/26/10, in the gazebo, at 3:30

I have NOTHING done yet in terms of details.....I will get my head count in a month then we'll decide on what package etc.  I think we may only have 20 guests - how about you?

We arrive on Sat 11/20, will stay at GPR until Sun11/28, then are heading over to the Blue Pearl Suites through 12/3.

I

CANNOT
WAIT!!!!!!!!!

This is so crazy! Of all the places in the world... fancy meeting you here. We're also getting married at 3:30pm on Nov 26th but on the beach. We have about 30 people coming to ours. Where are you having your reception?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
