Gran Porto Real Brides - Post here!!

Recommended Posts

Congrats soontobemrssmid! + welcome to the forum :) so many brides ask that question about photography, it's our #1 answer on our FAQ webpage.....with the link here:http://momentsthatmatterphotography.com/faqs.html ........and our answer is basically this:

~~~~~~~~~
 1) Why should I hire a professional wedding photographer?
  Some couples are lured by the low cost of having friends or family members take photos of their day. Almost everyone knows a bride that has been upset by their wedding photographs. This is the reason we became interested in this art. We have known too many couples who have been less than satisfied with the final outcome of their “uncle Joes†photos. Photography can be very stressful for a guest. Your friends and family would like to come enjoy your destination wedding with you. Invite them to share your day instead of stressing about your photography. Let me take that responsibility for this task. Another perk that a professional can deliver that most of your guests likely cannot, is post digital editing. I digitally enhance every one of your images for better color and composition. Examples of this can be found on my  website. Professional computer programs and skills are also required for such digital effects. Many destination brides will say that the most important images are those of the newly wed couple. Once the family/group photos are completed, we bring the couple around the resort to various locations for their romantic photo shoot. The wedding couple is rarely used to posing for the camera. We will be there to guide you in order to create beautiful natural images. "UncleJoe" may not have the expertise it takes to lead these portrait sessions. Your wedding is the most important day in your relationship. Professional wedding photographers have experience capturing the Moments that Matter! We have photographed many weddings and are well prepared for each important moment of your entire day. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   I'm not saying you need to hire me - there are numerous great professional photographers available here, and DO really encourage you to choose one of us. You'll be very glad you did when you see the results that will make you happy for a lifetime!  All the best with your plans and exciting times ahead - cheers !
We brought our photographers with us, but my husband was very picky about photography so there was really no other option. It was nice though, having them there the entire day. We have pictures of us getting ready, pictures of the ceremony, reception, and the next day we did trash the dress. All of our photos are amazing and it was great for us to be able to meet them and get to know them a bit prior to the wedding.
Hey Ladies!!
Thanks for the information about photographers... we still haven't decided what to do but we do have some time to think about it!
On an exciting note that I wanted to share with you all though is that we received our pricing (that is at an excellent rate!) and once deposits are paid by November 22, 2012, we will  booked for our trip November 6-13, 2013 and the next step will be to follow up with the cordinators and book my day!
Does anyone have a day recommendation?   We are going to legally get married at home so it will just be symbolic ceremony so I am not sure how many days we have to be there before the actual day!
I am so so excited to be one step closer to all of this!  You ladies have given me so many great ideas, I cannot wait for everyone to pay deposits so I can move along with the rest of my planning!!
Hi, everyone! Well, we've made the important decision to host our wedding at the Gran Porto Real in Playa on April 13, 2013. We're staying at The Royal, but the times/locations that we wanted to host the ceremony and reception were unavailable so we decided to move it next door. This option has actually worked out quite nicely as it gives our budget concious guests another option without having to pay for a day pass or other fees for the wedding day. I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? We're hosting the ceremony at 6p at the Gazebo, and the cocktail and private reception on the beach immediately following the reception. I have so many questions (menus, decor, vendors, which beach is best, etc, etc.) and am wondering if there is anyone out there struggling with the same? Would love to get together to share ideas/info! As of now we have 35ish guests and think we'll end up somewhere between 50-60 total. Most guests as of right now will be staying at The Royal.
We got married on day 4... I think that you need a minimum of 2 days at the resort before the wedding, but it was nice to have it later in the week. It gave us time to get used to the resort and all of our guests plenty of time to relax and enjoy their vacation, and we loved being able to have our last night out as singles in Playa del Carmen!
Hi everyone...
I'm a newbie here but have scheduled our wedding at the Gran Porto for June 2013. I'm hoping that someone can help me figure out whether to get married on North Beach? Or Central Beach?  Originally I had thought North Beach because of the seclusion but I'm not so thrilled with the bar and stacks of beach chairs being the backdrop of our reception! The photos of Central Beach (I'm assuming) have the beach cabanas as a backdrop to the reception and it seems much more visually attractive, but I can't figure out if it's too close to the pool? Will it be too loud?  Has anybody been and could shed some light on this as my Wedding Coordinator hasn't answered me and I need to make a decision stat! lol! Also, any other advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks...
Hiya! Just wondering who your Wedding Coordinator is? I keep having loooooong delays in response with mine and was wondering if you're having the same issues? Which beach will you be getting married on? Can't wait to touch base throughout this process and help each other along! Have a great night! ~Stina
Hello Ladies!
I just thought I should share all of my fantastic news with you as I am so excited!!
We are officially booked for our trip from November 6-13, 2013 although  hubby and I might stay an extra week (with Aubrey) because we are vacation spoiled and have never stayed anywhere less than 2 weeks.  It just doesn't seem like enough time when you're only there for 7 days!  We'll see how planning and budgeting and pricing works out for the extension but I really hope we can work something out!!
Our wedding day will be on November 8, 2013. I know it is shortly after we arrive but there are two reasons.  One is that we will just be having the symbolic ceremony there as we will be legally married here before we leave and two because I would love to have it at the start of the weekend and spend the rest of the week celebrating and hanging out with friends!  It's going to be fantastic!
I just cant wait for the rest to come along, I know it will happen fast! But I already have so many ideas running through my head,  OOT bags, bridal party gifts, parent gifts, DIY's for the ceremony and reception! Busy busy busy!
    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
