Gran Porto Real Brides - Post here!!

Recommended Posts

We are getting married on that Monday, April 11th so we didn't have to pay the extra $400.  We figured every day is a Saturday on vacation!

It does get so expensive for the private reception!  I think we are going to stick to the 3 hour limit and then move the party to The Blue Parrot after dinner!  I hope it goes smoothly with that transition though!

Hey Ladies - I am a Royal PDC bride, but I am hoping that my message is helpful for you March and April 2011 brides as well since the Gran Porto is our sister resort.  See below:

The Gran Porto and the Royal are SELLING OUT!!!! My TA called me today and let me know that she is unable to book any more standard rooms for the Gran Porto or the Royal.  All that is left for the weekend of my wedding (April 1st) are the $700+ a night rooms (yowsa!) For my guests that didn't book, they are now scrounging around. Please let your guests know that April is a very popular time to visit the resorts and you don't want them to miss out.

I must add, I don't know if the selling out thing is exclusive to my TA.  I am assuming that she wouldn't book anyone else for the Royal because she didn't want to risk them being "bumped" to another resort so check with your TA's.  I am a little disappointed with my TA becasue I feel like she should have warned us that the Royal and the Gran Porto were reaching max capacity.

Hello, I'm a newbie who just decided on a Gran Porto wedding as well...havent decided on March or May of 2012.  PP to answer your question i have Katia Nunez for my WC at Gran Porto-her email is katia.nunez@realresorts.com .  In the last week of deciding on this resort, i've sent about 4 or 5 emails with questions and she  is very good on replying either the same day or early the next.  I've read on here that when weddings are that far out the wc's response time is lacking-they must've addressed that problem cuz she's been on top if every message i've sent!

Hi everyone! I'm new here and was seriously considering GPR for my destination wedding.  Had a few questions...

I would have about 50 people including children (mostly family if they all go) and for that many it would be the private reception since the restaurant cannot hold more than 30 people for the semi-private.  I would do that on the beach.  I was looking for just a simple dinner with everyone but I suppose with that amount it's impossible to do that.  So if it would be the private reception, I would not have dancing or the traditional reception stuff.  I am guessing I would not need the whole 3 hours too.  I think the benefit to having it on the beach is that it would feel less formal than in the ballroom for me.  I don't want any frills, just simple and easy!

Does anyone have any thoughts on this...have you done this type of reception?

Hey, We were thinking of getting married at the Gran Porto in November of 2012. It would be great to have updates regarding your planning!!! Are you having your reception on the beach? If so, did you and the wc talk about alternatives if the weather were to go south?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
