PPR and PPC Brides Updated Thread

I also don't like the color the Aqua package has, but what the WC told me that I could change and upgrade anithing/whatever I want for our wedding; which I am planning to do. Of course, I am sure they are going to charge me for every litle thing I change or touch.

I had my conference call with WC yesterday. I wanted a song played while I walked down the aisle and they wanted to charge me 130.00 to rent the equipment to play a 2 minute song. I was like "it's not like I'm having a reception and using the equipment for hours." She's going to check for me- be sure to ask the price of everything because I've heard from many other brides that they will try and nickel and dime you.

Hi Natalie,

I was married at PPR and also used DJ Mannia. Our ceremony was in the lobby, just beyond the stairs, near the fountain and it was awesome! It was supposed to be on the beach but it began raining and so they had to move it from the beach. I have to honestly say I was extremely happy that it was moved. It was a beautiful spot. the reception was at the Reserve. Near the pool there is an outdoor but roof covered villa type area. The reception was 3 hours and honestly the $800 I spent on the DJ, I could have used my ipod. We ended up asking the dj to play the songs from my girlfriends ipod because he didn't have any of the music that we wanted to hear. So for $100 we could have just plugged it into the system and kept it moving. He seems to be a good dj, but I just didn't feel he had the type of music we were looking to party to. Also, as far as the pastor goes, ours spoke Spanish and we couldn't understand him, but it was translated, it was still fantastic. I wouldn't spend the extra $$ on Pastor York (just my opinion). Also, the reception time could have been longer but given that you have a huge resort with all of your guests already there, there is no reason to pay the additional fee for an extra hour when you can go to another spot and continue having a good time! That's what we did!!

Hope this helps.

Ladies, I'm having a hard time deciding between Reserve and Royal Service at PPC. I've heard that Reserve is newer but all ages and at the back of the resort whereas Royal Service is older but adults only and closet to the beach. However, the additional services and ammenities are pretty much the same for both. Is that correct?

Also, who does the translation of the wedding ceremony? Is it the wedding coordinator? Is it possible to get a copy of the English translation and have one of our relatives read it instead?

PS: For those of you who are going to PPC for 2011, golf is NOT inclusive anymore beginning Monday Jan 3rd. Since we booked in 2010, my travel agent has received exception for us. Make sure to clarify this because green frees are not cheap, especially if you have guests going multiple times during their stay!

You can choose to have the WC translate for you at no charge or have a relative/friend read translation free of charge.

We are also staying at the Reserve. Although its further away from beach it is newer and I have heard that it is more luxurious. We leave October 23 2010- I'll be sure and give you plenty of details.

We had a Royal Service room and honestly the room was beautiful. Some friends had time shares at the Reserve and also gave it rave reviews. I can only speak from experience in staying in Royal Service I really liked the proximity to the beach. I'm not really a beach type of person but to hear the waves at night or to sit on the balcony in the morning was amazing. Also you do get a butler, but we didn't really use his services until the day of the wedding and that was to bring bottles of champagne to my husbands room! I think if you choose either one, you will be happy. I did hear that if you stay in the Reserve your food isn't included. Does anyone know if that is true? We are planning to go back next year and are thinking about the Reserve.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
