    Hi Everyone,

I'm wondering if any of you have any luck in locking in the rates for a Carnival Cruise. The rates I'm promised will be expiring soon, and not everyone has booked...and it seems all future bookings will be on new rates...can cruise rates be locked in?

you can lock in cruise rates but they take a group block and a deposit.  You may want to contact TA Patty on here as she is a cruise specialist.  or you can use the TA form above and it will send her your contact info.

So far, I know they can be "locked-in" for like a few weeks or a month...is that true?

now im not positive on this but from someone i know who got married on a cruise ship this is what she said...they'll give you the quotes but they exprire within a certain amount of time unless you put a group deposit down....usually about 10 people. so you can either gather 10 people or however many the requirment is or you can put it all down yourself and as other guests start booking the money you put down for all the deposits will go to the price of your package.

Hmmmm...... what we did was create a group booking and everyone had to pay a $25 deposit. Our travel agent was able to call Carnival multiple times to extend the deposit deadline. The last deadline expired in June, and when she called them to extend yet again, Carnival said they would honor the remaining rooms we had blocked off for the group at the current pricing for an undisclosed period of time.

Also, we never had to put down a group deposit. We are sailing on the Carnival Liberty October 29 2011.

I used a friend's mom who works for Expedia CruiseShip Centers. I'm in Vancouver BC though so not sure it would work for you to contact her, but here is her info anyway:
