Resort Help!

Recommended Posts

My fiance and I are trying to plan our destination wedding in Jamaica.  We met with a travel agent last week, and we've narrowed our options down to the following resorts:

Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa

Iberostar Rose Hall Suites

Riu Ocho Rios

We need a resort that is kid-friendly, and will be cost-effective for our family and friends.  Does anyone have any recommendations or preferences for any of these hotels over the others?

Thanks!

sarahandmark, I picked Iberostar Rose Hall Suites because they are family friendly, resonably priced for an all-inclusive AND (most important) they offier ONLY ONE WEDDING PER DAY!  That was my selling point.  Additionally, the online ratings are great and previous brides on here have had good experiences.  Honestly, I didn't do extensive research on the others so I can't really speak to them and what they offer!

Thanks for the input!  I do like the idea of my wedding being the only one they have that day.  How did you go about requesting your wedding date?  I feel like I keep emailing resorts to find out availabilities of wedding dates, and I'm not getting any responses.

OMG, the wait is the worst part.  Apparently this is "busy season."  I totally understand that but the wait was rough!  I requested (and followed-up) 2-3 times and FINALLY  I received confrimation.  weddings.suites@iberostar.com is the email address I have for the coordinator.  Her name is Nicole.

I picked IRHS, we are getting married on November 11, 2011. We were thinking about the Grand Palladium. but chose IRHS based on reviews and the fact that they have one wedding per day. I would suggest if you have a travel agent asking if they can contact Grand Palladium for you. My travel agent, who is awesome volunteered to contact Nicole at IRHS whenever I have questions. Nicole seems to respond to her much quicker than me. I know all travel agents are different and some won't do it, but it may help. Sarah, I'm in Baltimore also what part are you located in.

I finally bypassed the whole email thing and just decided to call.  The wedding coordinator at the Grand Palladium sent me all of the package information within a day or two.  We've finally selected a date (May 6, 2011) so now I just have to move forward with all of the rest of the planning!  Mrsgreene2011, my fiance and I live in Glen Burnie - what part are you in?  Congratulations by the way :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
