Riu Palace Brides Post Here!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies!

I am very excited, just booked our wedding for 5-12-12 at the RIU Palace.  I have a ton of questions though, and am too inpatient to wait on the wedding coordinator to fill me in a year from now!

Please let me know if anyone has had experience with the following:

We are expecting to have around 80 people come for the wedding.  Since our number is over 40 we were told our reception would have to be quoted as a private dinner vs. semi-private.  Almost everyone's blogs I look at have a semi-private dinner.  Is there anyone out there that had a private dinner? I am curious to know how the food was, and about how much it costs.  I did get an example menu from the sales coordinator, but realized that your dinner only includes wine and beer, it doesn't look like hard liquor is included.??? If so do you pay extra?

We really want an outside or open air reception...So I am thinking a poolside dinner.  Has anyone had one of these? Do you know what the difference is between the two pool side reception locations at the Palace is?

Since we are paying for the wedding ourselves, we are torn between getting married at the RIU Palace and the Santa Fe.  I am only looking at the Santa Fe because its much cheaper for the wedding package, and also our guests (we are coming from MI).  Does anyone have any input on which hotel is better?  Or has anyone with a large (over 40) reception gotten married at the Santa Fe? I understand they don't do outside receptions is this correct?

Anyone have any wedding pictures from outside private dinners I can check out?

THANKS!!

Hi Kary,

My wedding is not until July 2nd at Riu Palace so I can give you an awesome..hopefully...review when I get back as we are doing a private reception dinner on the beach for 40 people and will most likely be doing the private open bar as it really isnt that much more. Here are the brochures I received, it may help...the pricing for open bar is on the extra's sheet.

We chose the Palace, I didn't really even look at the Sante Fe so I can't give you any assistance there...sorry!

Thanks For the info!  Unfortunately I can't open the document, it says I don't have permission to do so.   Would you mind telling me how much the open bar is?  Do you know if it also includes alcohol?  I ask because I thought it only included beer and wine.

Congrats on your July date!!! I hope you have a great review to tell all of us!!!!

I'm getting married at the Riu Palace November 5, 2011.

Just found this website.

Kinda worried that everyone has so much planned and I am behind.  I've been trying to get a hold of the wedding planner at Riu but they(Adriana) said they dont contact the brides until 2 months prior to event. I need some questions answered just for my other planning to finish.

Any advise?

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I was worried too about that. I was just married at the Palace June 24th.  It was PERFECT!!   I was contacted by Adriana about 1 to 1 1/2 months before.  I think they give that timeline, so that us "crazy" brides aren't emailing them months and months before.  I had a small wedding, and everything worked out perfectly.   She will email you all the information about the reception choices and add on's etc.  I can forward you the info she emailed me if you would like, and would be happy to answer any questions that you might have?  You can email me at my direct email which is [email protected].

Congrats!!

Katie

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
