Ladies, I had the most exciting thing ever happen to me this week!  I got a call that I was one of 2 finalists in a Wedding Bells contest.  There were 7,611 entrants and my name was one of the two drawn!  We had to go head to head in a cake dive to see who would win a $35k wedding!  So funny to watch:

Now, instead of a a low-key cocktail reception upon our return, we'll be having an amazing full wedding reception :)  My luck definitely peaked yesterday LOL.

Just wanted to share my excitement with you!! smile159.gif

Have a great weekend,

Katie

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey girls I'm new on this site but I'm getting married Nov. 9th, 2010 at the Palace on the beach at 5:30, free cocktail hour at the lobby bar, dinner at the Steakhouse and then renting Pacha out till 11 when it opens with 45 guest booked!  I'm so excited it's only 5 weeks away!!!!

I've been to the Riu Palace before w/ my fiance and while we were there we said if we ever get married we're getting married here!!  It was amazing!

So one thing that we're doing for our guests as kinda an OOT present is ordering 16oz stadium cups that we personalized w/ our colors, a palm tree, names and date (they have seashells, flip flops...).  All Riu veterans bring their own cups b/c they serve drinks in small little juice cups.  When we were there before a wedding party had them and it was so cute, plus everyone at the pool/bars all new you were party of the wedding!  We're going to stuff ours w/ our welcome letter and crystal light/ propel singles packets!

100 cups-$90

50 cups-$72

Let me know if anyone has any ideas/tips!!!!

Sorry Lolita, work got crazy and I haven't been on here forever! I am doing the private reception and picking at least 2 dishes for the guests to choose from...probably beef or chicken. I need to see how flexible they are on that and on the menu's as some sounds AMAZING but others not so much!

I don't know what the food is like personally but i have heard they have very good food, i heard the steakhouse is a little better thu.

Ok ladies, those having the private reception, are you going to select a few dishes for the guests to choose from or are you going to just have everyone choose whatever they want from the menu???

And my bridal party isn't that big it'll be about 6 BM and 5 GM and 2 RB (ring bearers).

The wedding group that had them when we were there before was known as "THE Wedding" with everyone at the pool/bars...it made it really fun to be like ohhh your w/ THE wedding plus they were a super fun cool group!  Just a fun kinda way to make all your guest stand out for the week!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
