Newbie trying to decide where to get married!

Hi everyone. My name is Betsy and my wedding date is December 20th of this year. We know we want to go to Mexico or the Caribbean to get married but are having trouble deciding where. I'm thinking Los Cabos, or maybe Rivieria Maya. I don't really think I want to have it in Cancun. We know we want an all-inclusive resort and probably need one where there's plenty of activities to do. I'm definitely open for suggestions. Thanks and good luck to all of the brides-to-be!

Welcome Betsy

You are ambitious to plan a wedding in less than 2 months! At this point, I know that Los Cabos resorts fill up pretty fast, so it might just be a matter of finding a place that has availability. Some nice AI's in Cabo include Dreams, Riu Palace, and Presidente Intercontinental. There are a couple others, but I think these three are the nicest. There are lots of pictures of these places around the forum. I don't know much personally about Riviera Maya. Good luck and let us know if you have more questions!

Welcom Betsy,

I think Sarah and Tammy are right, One place Ive heard good things about from friends and family is the Occidental Grand Xcaret in the Riviera Maya. I believe it is a 3/4 star hotel. But it seems like it is a pretty good bang for your buck and still buetiful at the same time. I dont think it compares to some of the resorts in Cabo though, like the Dreams and Riu that Sarah was speaking about. Cabo is known for their great hotels and from what Ive researched they are indeed great. I think Tammy (host) put another thread in hear somewhere about the El Dorado which I believe is in either Playa Del Carmen or the Riviera too. Good luck.

  • 4 weeks later...

Thanks for the replies from everyone. I haven't been able to get back to the message board recently because I've been bogged down with school, work, and wedding details. Anyway, has anyone had a wedding at the aventura spa palace? I was considering this resort but after reading some of the recent reviews on tripadvisor.com, I'm not so sure. From what I have read, it seems like you have to really complain to get a room with a view. I read so many reviews where people were unhappy with their rooms and then end up changing at least once. I don't want to mess with this. I think I am going to go with the Riviera Maya so any suggestions would be really helpful. Also, this will be a small wedding. I am looking at only 8 to 10 people as guests. Thanks, and good luck to everyone with their weddings!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
