I really like the up do as well, but my FI wants my hair down. So I'm kind of conflicted. I'm thinking that once my dress comes in and I have to go for fittings, I might do a "down and wavy" hair trial to see if I like the mantilla. And I'll bring a hair tie to try the trendier veil. The other thing too, is that I don't know if I trust anyone down in Cabo to actually do my hair, I wish I could bring my hair stylist with me sad.gif

I'm totally with you! I'm going for a site visit in 3 weeks so i was thinking of setting up an appointment, the only problem is i don't know where the location is yet...so that might be a factor in where i do get it done. Maybe i will try a few different places if i have time angel2.gif

It seems like Suzanne Morale's salon is good, but I wasn't totally impressed with her website. Maybe I'll ask my WC to see if she knows of any good ones and I'll let you know.

I did some research. I think i'm going to make an appointment with Hive. the website is down but here is another one with a picture http://www.loscabosguide.com/hivespa/

compared to Susan Morale's and Mexsun it looks like it might be the most up to date. I didn't find that much about them on the forum but here is one review about Hive http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t5128. And, Someone else had a bad experience but it was about booking her appointment and they flaked on her, which isn't good...

but hopefully i can make an appointment for my site visit and if i don't like it at least i can rule them out...

Yea that totally makes sense. Well let me know how it works out and what you think of it. I might consider having someone down there do my hair although for the makeup I think I will do it myself (who knows...I might decide otherwise by then)lol

I know what you mean about the hair and makeup thing. I'm so nervous about having someone I don't know doing mine. I have actually thought about bringing my own hairstylist, but my FI thinks I'm totally out of my mind, and even my stylist thought I was joking. I must confess, I wasn't entirely joking. I was mostly joking... I'm so afraid of getting a totally terrible style and then having to re-do the whole thing myself. That said, if I decide to do it myself in the first place, I'm worried that I'll have a meltdown anyway! My hairstylist said that I can come in to the salon a few weeks before the wedding and have her do my hair, and then we'll take tonnes of pictures from every possible angle, and I can give them to the stylist in Hawaii. That actually made me feel a lot better, because the thing I was most worried about was the whole issue of how you give them a picture from a magazine, but it's not your hair, and they're not used to doing your hair... I feel a lot better about the idea of having pictures of my own hair done how I want it. Less room for error! As for the makeup, at the moment I'm thinking that I'll do it myself, unless I get a really good review of someone there. Again, worried about thinking that I'll totally be fine and then having a breakdown when I am nervous and suddenly unable to do my own makeup lol.

maybe you can also get a friend of yours to practice doing the makeup on you for a month or so before the wedding, so just incase you are unable to do it that day she can help. The hair idea is really good too, I might have to do the same...it seems safer. Although, I think I'm almost 98% sure that I'll have my hair down with curls in for the day so maybe i can do it myself or have a friend help :S I'm glad in a way that I have a year to think about this, but then again, I might just drive myself nuts by then and shave my hair off like Ms Brittany Spears wink.gif

That's a really good idea. I think I'll get one of my bridesmaids to practice my makeup, just in case. I'm too nervous to hire someone to do my makeup there, because that could just go so terribly wrong. I like the idea of having one of my bridesmaids as a backup though.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
