Gran Bahia Principe Esmeralda

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has gotten married at this resort in Punta Cana? The reviews look great and the grounds look beautiful. I've also been looking at Iberostar Bavaro (stayed there last year and loved it!)

Any input would be appreciated!

Hi girls,

My husband and i were married at the Gran Bahia resort on April 22, 2010 and it was absolutley perfect! The wedding staff are amazing and probably the nicest girls you will ever meet! They made it so easy for us to enjoy our week with our 40 guests and not have to worry at all about wedding plans. You will have a wonderful time, and the resort is beautiful. The only advice i have is to get a list of all your guests room numbers because it is hard to locate people at this resort. It is huge, but easy to find your way around. If you stick to the main trolly line, it will take you just about anywhere!

When you arrive, the wedding coordinator will have a time set up for a meeting. We met with her the morning after we arrived and went through all the details (it took a couple hours), picked out flowers and talked about how the day will go. Everything turned out just as planned! They are very busy with weddings, but they will accomodate for anything that you ask for. All of our flowers were gorgeous!!! They were the nicest tropical flowers i have ever seen!

If you are looking for a wedding photographer, the resort does have one on site. We decided to go outside the resort and hired Michael Weiler to take care of our photos - he is absolutely amazing and very reasonably priced! He makes the best wedding albums! He is very fluent in english and easy to talk to. During the ceremony he was getting close-up shots and i honestly dont even remember seeing him there...i have no idea how he got some of those photographs!

i will try to attach some photos for you to have a look at...

Also if you want to see some of our pictures, go onto the following site and look up Melissa & Justin under the weddings section

http://www.weddingpuntacana.com/Information.html

If you have any questions or would like more details let me know - i spent over a year planning our wedding so i can probably answer just about any question with regards to this resort.

Good luck!

Melissa

My husband and i were married at the Bahia resort in April 2010 - the Esmeralda is a new section to the right of the Bahia Principe section. It is beautiful but a different lay out than the Principe and Bavaro hotels. The rooms are located in large 5 or 6 story buildings, whereas with the Principe and Bavaro hotels the rooms are in 3 or 4 story villas which are located all over the resort. When we were there in April the grounds around the Esmeralda werent finished and the gates had not yet been installed at the opening to the resort. It looked empty, but i could be wrong. i bet its beautiful inside though!

I got married there in April and stayed in the Esmeralda section and it fantastic! It is beautiful, the staff is great, and it was much quieter than other areas of the resort. There were fewer children and the pool area was never crowded. Compared to what I saw at other areas of the resort I would highly recommend staying at the Esmeralda section over the other sections.

We came back 2 weeks ago from the Bahia Principe Resorts. We stood at the Ambar section but because we had VIP bracelets we were allow in the Esmeralda section. We were hanging out at the Jacuzzi area by the Esmeralda because we had it to ourselves most of the time and here's a picture:

The Ambar is Adults Only and the Esmeralda families are allowed, but the picture I showed above is in the Esmeralda but only for adults.

The Esmeralda is the newest one, it opened up less than a year ago and it's gorgeous but we still preferred the Ambar because of the adults only deal also we found our section of the beach was always less crowded.

Hope this helps :)

Glenny, did you provide transportation to and from the airport for your guests? I want to, but $44/pp seems steep to me?! Also, did you use their photographer? I want more pictures than 10, but not too extreme. Any suggestions on that as well?! Thanks for the information on the Ambar vs. Esmeralda, I was wandering that as well. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
