What are you (or did you) Giving Your Fiance for a Wedding Present?

Recommended Posts

Hey canadiangirl! The week of our wedding was the first massage my fiance ever had, and he LOVED it! We did a couples massage at the spa where we were married (Excellence Riviera Cancun). If he isn't the type that would find a lot of use in some of the more traditional watch/cufflink ideas, it could be something he ends up loving (and it could be a surprise for when you get there. As happy and excited as we were to spend a week with friends and family, it was a really great thing to do the couples massage for some "us time" after worrying about everyone and everything for a year during the planning! Just a thought :)

Wow guys! I just read through this whole thread and there are so many ideas out there. That puzzle piece BD pic thing was super unique, though I very much don't think I am doing BD pics!

So.. for every post that talks about what the gift will be.. there is a post saying they are NOT doing gifts, whether its because theyre paying for the wedding themselves or some other reason.

I didn't hear about this until last year when my sisters good friend got married, she asked the groom the morning of the wedding what he got her for her special wedding day gift from him, and he's like WTF I was supposed to get her something?? So she actually secretly gave him a diamond bracelet that she had ordered from like jewelry television or something that came in and was too small for her, and the bride loved it, my sister saved the day, etc. But that was the first I had heard of the gift giving thing too.

That being said - I like the idea - lol - but I also wouldn't know what to give. If I had a unlimited bank account the first thing on the list would be a motorcycle but I don't... so... what's the deal with watches anyway? My FI has never owned a watch that cost more then like fifty bucks.. but he sure loves them. I would like to get him a nice dressy watch but I have never heard of any big brands or anything - I would have no clue how to shop for a watch for him. I know he would love it and he never can go without wearing a watch - so can you guys give me some suggestions of watches or watch brands? Particularly if they're really awesome? lol

I know he tried on a watch at a jewelry place when we were Mexico or someplace in the caribbean last year while on a cruise.. and he liked it! And then he asked how much it was.. and they were like $14,0000.00. I was like OMG you could buy a car with that. He was very nervous about taking it off, afraid he would break it, lol. So any advice on this would be appreciated! But just not fourteen thousand dollar ones, k? rolleyes.gif

Wow - in all the planning and organizing I totally forgot about this part!!! YIkes!

Where do you get boudoir pics done? Do you do them yourself with a timer? I am soo not sexy, I think Jay would laugh at me...lol

I like the box of places to go idea.

More things to think about!

Because the wedding has been a bit of a drain on our finances and I just bought him a nice watch, I am going with cute and sentimental.

I am a huge Red Sox fan and since we started dating he has become one too. but the long running joke was that he wasn't a real fan until

he marries into it. So I am getting him a shirt that says "Red Sox Fan married into it."

I don't think anybody's done them themselves with a timer, they go to a professional photographer and you'd be surprised how many are out there that do these types of pictures, but they're supposed to be super tasteful and make you really comfortable..

but yeah I still couldn't do it. I'm too lumpy. lmao and then if any of my family ever found it omg

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
