Honeymoon Wishes or Honeyfund

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I am looking at both honeymoon registries and would like to know if anyone has used them and were they successful/did your guests respond well to the registry?

I have compared both and the only differences I see are that Honeymoon Wishes charges 7% fee + 3% if a credit card is used. They also have customer service agents that can handle phone orders for those who do not like making purchases over the internet.

Honeyfund is free or you can pay a one time fee of $29 to upgrade your registry with pictures and the only fees you have to pay are paypal fees if you receive money through paypal. People can pay by credit card immediately or pledge to give you a check or cash at your wedding. They also have reminders that can be sent out for those who pledge money, but I would feel uncomfortable reminding someone to give me a wedding gift:) Pledging money is the only thing I don't like about Honeyfund, but I would like to know if any of you have done this and how did the guest feel about it and how did you feel about it. THANKS!!!

i researched all of them, so i'm happy to share what i know. i'm with you, i didn't like the format and protocol for honeyfund. honeymoon wishes seemed nice but i found it to be the most expensive option. you might like to check out depositagift.com that's who we chose and we're really happy with it. we liked it because the interface is really nice, clean and warm and the registry part felt like a store's online registry to us, which we thought would be easier for guests. also they offer the full wedding website with pics etc for free. i'm not a huge paypal fan and was looking for a site with a credit card option, which deposit a gift has. they offer phone service too, and to us seemed like the most straightforward and flexible service. we started ours as soon as we got engaged b/c everyone kept asking for the engagement party and it has worked out really well: we've gotten gifts, guests are happy and we've had no regrets. the experience has been as promised.

If you have a travel agent, you could always ask them if they could set up a honeymoon fund. Our travel agent gave us cards to include in our invitations that allow our guests to send money in to go towards ours and they will keep track of who sent money in. We felt that our guests would feel more comfortable going through the travel agent. I didn't really like the way honeyfund's website layout looked. I never looked into depositagift.com so not too sure about them.

We used Honeymoon Wishes, and had 2 people use it. I don't know how it works for all destinations, but for a cruise, they send the money directly to the ship as an onboard credit. Two people bought us things off our registry there (an excursion & partial payment towards a couples massage on the ship) and instead of putting the money towards the actual things we registered for, they sent the money to our ship for us to use any way we want.

Most people bought things off of our Bed, Bath & Beyond registry instead though.

Hi Heather. We personally used Honeyfund and I can't tell you how easy and great it was. Our guests response to the registry was quite positive. We opted to pay the $29 just because it looks a little more personalized than the free one that is offered to you, but both are fantastic. Updating the gifts and receiving messages from both Honeyfund and PayPal was a breeze. Even with the 3% Paypal fee we received a little under $3,000 from our guests. I was concerend at first that it would seem tacky and cheesy to have a honeymoon registry, but the feedback we got from our guests was totally positive and everybody loved it! We forgot to deactivate the account right after the wedding and realized that when we came back from our honeymoon we still had guests sending us $!!!! I loved Honeyfund!!!

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in -

We're using Upon Our Star, which is a wish registry. We requested household and honeymoon 'wishes' for gifts. Was super easy to set up, and so far we have had lots of people get really excited about it! The fee is 3.5% plus a one-time $15 admin fee.

Good luck!

liznsergio-

That's awesome-thanks so much!  I paid the $29 fee and set mine up, but I was worried about the whole paypal/pledge thing.  Did more people do paypal or pledge a check/cash?  Was it easy for you to keep track of for thank you notes and did you have to send a reminder to anyone?  How many items did you register for? I read an article saying to register for 2-3 items per guest/couple.  I did multiple items at different prices.  We have 68 going and I think I have about 110 items listed.

Thanks again:)

Every single one of our guests sent payment through Paypal and they all submitted payment instantly...one minute we would get an email from Honeyfund saying that someone pledged a gift and not even one minute later we would receive an email for payment confirmation form PayPal.  We also had about 65 guests at our wedding....We listed several options of gifts in various denominations to try and accomodate every budget.  Example, we did 10 romantic dinners @ $40 each, 10 Wine at Dinner @ $25 each, different excursion/day trip choices anywhere from $20-60....and a real famous one that lots of people pledged on were the "gift cards".

Thanks so much for the information-I am definitely using Honeyfund! I just needed to know that someone else used it and was happy with it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
