Hello Everyone,

My name is Elizabeth and I'm planning on getting married in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in July of 2011.

I was actually married to my wonderful husband in December in City Hall. It was a very small ceremony and we did it quickly because he was deployed to Afghanistan last minute in January. Its been hard but he is safe and he gave me the go-ahead to start planning the wedding of our dreams for July.He will be here in November of this year.

I am in between these resorts: Paradisus, Dreams and Gran Bahia Principe. I need more info and thoughts on them in order to decide. Help please :)

My group size will be about 80 people . I also would like to work it a wedding coordinator but dont know where to start.

hope to hear from you all,

Elly

Elizabeth congratulations on your wedding and I hope you husband returns safely. I would suggest talking to a TA about your choices after researching them on this forum. Another good place to look more in depth at resorts in tripadvisor.

Most resorts have their own WC and from what I read on the forum they seem to be slow to respond. My suggestion once you've selected a resort and are in touch with the WC is to keep a list of questions and send many at once instead of one by one.

Good luck and happy planning!

Hi Elizabeth, welcome to BDW :)

Dreams is gorgeous in Punta Cana. Their gazebo set up in the court yard is a perfect layout for a wedding IMO. If you're wanting a beach wedding though I would maybe consider the other resorts you listed as if it's at Dreams PC there will be guests on the beach from what I've seen.

Gran Bahia Principe looks amazing and huge. I only saw the outside and grounds but everyone I talk to about it has nothing but positive feedback. Check out some past reviews from brides from those resorts too. Hopefully that can help you out with your decision :) Happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
