Newbie trying to choose a resort

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, My name is Hanna and I just became a member after browsing the forum for a while for information for our upcoming DW. We are getting married in April-May 2011 in Mexico, Riviera Maya. As my subject line states I'm trying to choose a resort and it is so much harder than I ever thought.

We are looking for an affordable AI resort with a very nice beach and preferably some kind of gazebo for the ceremony. We have guests from all over the world so we really want something everyone can afford.

Any suggestions are appreciated :)

Welcome. From what I've heard the best guaranteed white sandy beaches are often close to Cancun (if that helps at all). But there are sooo many great resorts to chose from! Congrats on the engagement and best of luck in the planning!

Thank you!! I have been to Cancun and love the white sand, but trying to find something outside of Cancun and Playa de Carmen (not so close to the cities in other words). I love Azul Beach, but trying to find something a bit less expensive so now I'm looking at Catalonia Riviera Maya. Though it seems as their only wedding location is on the beach.

I do like Azul Sensatori as well and got the pricing from my TA the other day. Love Now Jade Riviera as well, but way too expensive for us. Barcelo is just huge, too big for my taste. I guess beggers can't be choosers but I still hope I will be able to find a beautiful resort with reasonable prices. I really want it to be affordable for our guests since most of them are traveling from Europe (a couple from Australia) and staying for 1-2 weeks.

Thanks,

That's the one I've got my eyes on at the moment :) Is there only one ceremony location (on the beach with the white tent)? Also, I can't seem to find an official website (that includes the wedding packages) for them, do you have one?
Less than 2 months left for you, how exciting!!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
