*Heavy Sigh* Vent -- Bummed about turn out for my AHR :(

Recommended Posts

Thanks again, girls!

And here's a little update, as the AHR is now only 2 full days away (on Aug. 14th, 2010).....

In the end, I've decided to be the 'bigger person' and in the interest of respecting my father (who gets really sad and HATES it when my sister and I fight), I told my a-hole of a sister that she can come to the AHR after all and she can leave to go to that stupid birthday party whenever she wants -- I just don't care anymore.  If she doesn't come, at least then I don't look like the bad guy for the rest of our lives, and I told her 100% that the ONLY, ONLY reason I am allowing her to come is because I don't want to hurt Dad -- period!

So, as for the final headcount, 60 people is what we ended up with -- and while I have to pay for 15 meals that aren't needed, I suppose it could always be worse and we're just looking forward to it either way at this late stage of the game!  Wish us luck on Saturday!!!  :)

Hey Christie, your AHR is here already!  I have been following this thread and I feel so bad for you with all the bs you had to deal with.  You're in my thoughts and I wish you and your DH all the best for a perfect day!  Enjoy!!!  and don't forget to post some pictures wink.gif

Thanks so much for the well-wishes, Michelle!

Truthfully, I've been feeling lightheaded/dizzy for the past 2 days will all of the last minute loose ends to tie up and details to address.....I think this might ACTUALLY feel more stressful than when we left the country for the DW itself, for goodness sake!!  Aaaarrrgh!

I know logically it will be okay no matter what happens, but I can't stop this underlying feeling of dread that no one will show up, or if they do, they won't have a good time....I have to get a hold of myself and stop being INSANE already, huh?!? Looks like I am taking my role as "Mayor of Crazytown" a little too seriously here lately....  ;)

Anyway, thanks again, and I'll be sure to post pics as soon as I can!  I have a feeling my photog. (there's a whole separate thread about that drama, too!) is going to be a little while with my pro pics, but I'll put up what I can from family and friends asap!

HUGS and thanks for the greatly-appreciated support!

I think you taking the high road was the best idea!  When drama is going down, it's really easy to get very involved in it and want to murder everyone and burn their house down.  However, as time passes and the wounds aren't as fresh, you tend to get a bit more clarity and see just how ridiculous it all was- not saying your position isn't valid- it TOTALLY is.  But because your sister is well... your sister--- it carries more weight than a normal person who can easily be cut out of your life.  You are absolutely correct that she can publicly make the choice to look like the jackass and it's out of your hands.

I hope your party goes well and I really hope all this is a thing of the past!  Planning any event is nerve-recking but there isn't a lot of events where you are the soul person responsible and it's all on your head.  Weddings are pretty much it.  After that you can usually have "co-hosts" and they can take some of the work and blame- if things don't go well.  LOL

I bet you have a great time! wink.gif

Hi Christie by now your be on your way to a massive hangover i think if the time difference is what i believe it to be,

I hope the evening far exceeded your expectations because quite frankly you wernt feeling it.

You deserve to have the night of your life and along the way you have learnt a hard lesson.

I honestly feel in my heart you wont be in anyway disappointed with the outcome.Your a sweet kind hearted soul and you will forget the shit that flew your way.Know in your heart that if you were a bad nasty person the things that have happened wouldnt of hurt you so badly cos youd expect nothing more than the negative. Its cos your a sweetie that it hurts so bad.

I hope you have sore feet from dancing and a pain in your jaw from the laughter.

We look forward to the piccies and review.

(notice i didnt mention the spoilt brat she wasnt even worth it)

Hugs and kisses and i hope you drunk the pint of water before lying your head on your pillow.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, GIRLS!!!!  Guess what?!

EVERYTHING worked out okay and my AHR was a success!!

And yes, there were QUITE a few bumps in the road the morning-of on our way to get there (I'll fill you all in on the details when I have time to write a proper review.....), but for the most part, all but 4 of the people that had RSVP'd they were coming showed up, and everyone seemed to be really glad they made the drive to our rather out-of-the-way venue and were sharing in our celebration -- John and I were THRILLED!!!

** Even my sister took a "big girl pill" and behaved like the lady and the sister I'd hope she'd be -- we were BLOWN away, and I made sure she knew how much I appreciated her effort! **

And to Rachel, Wendy, and Roo -- I love you, ladies!!  Thank you for thinking of me, and for understanding what it's like to deal with all of this craziness -- without you and the rest of the incredible BDW community, I for SURE would have lost my ever-lovin' MIND!!!  HUGS a million!  :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
