Haha this is totally me. I am waiting for it to be official before I start going crazy about everything but I have done so much reading and reseraching already. I plan on giving everyone at least a whole year to save and plan for our wedding so it is definitley at least 15 months so far if it were to happen this month.

Well, we're thinking autumn 2012, so I may be biased....wink.gif

For us, we're working around 2 very specific work schedules (e.g FI can only travel November-March and my work requires me to plan at least a year ahead), time to save money, time for loved ones to save money, etc etc.

Plus, I do think if you're asking family and friends to spend a considerable amount of money on a trip, you want to take the time to carefully decide on a destination and resort. So extra time is a benefit, in my opinion.

The beauty of a DW is that you could spend 2 years planning, or 2 weeks!

2 years is not too soon at all. We've been engaged for a year and I booked out resort and I bought my dress 18 months out. Planning early gives you some time to space out the things that you're doing. Just don't rush into decisions.

Yep, I plan on giving everyone a year also. But mostly everyone knows where I want to get married and when. This gives everyone enough time to save bc when the ring comes and I get to start seriously planning I don't wanna hear ANY complaints. lol

it's plenty of time to do research on ideas of what you like, what you don't. where you want it to be.

it's too early to get 'group rate quotes' for most places...but you can still pick a resort, pick a date (as long as you don't change your mind) and let people know your plans.

create a fun save the date, website and keep your potential guests informed.

lots of time to try on a dress and order one.

lots of time to think about colours, flowers, music, invites, photos.

but most of all...a lot of time to save money to pay for everything!!!

good luck and happy planning.

I started planning before he even asked lol... we talked about marriage so i knew he was going to pop the question... However we found out i was pregnant so that put a stop to the planning only be cause i didnt feel like thinking about a wedding when i was in all kinds of pain and supper tired... but all in all i would say that we ( i mean I..lol) started planning about a year and a half before... I dont think it's ever to early to start getting your ideas together.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
