Getting your DIY's, OOT Bags, Decorations to your DW... How are you doing it??

Recommended Posts

My wedding isn't until next April and I'm sure there is a thread on here about this somewhere (I just couldn't find it) but I am DYING to know- with all the preparation we are doing to ensure we find the right decorations, make all the right DIY projects, how are you actually getting your stuff down there? I feel like by the time I go there is going to be SO much stuff I want to take.

My wedding coordinator at the resort said not to ship anything, that the Cancun shipping often gets broken, damaged or lost. She said my best bet was to bring it down with us but in that case we will have 20 suticases!

I am having (most likely) over 100 people at the wedding, so that is a LOT of extra supplies.

How is everyone else bringing your decor, OOT bags, favors, etc??

I have quite a few guests coming (family and friends) so I will be asking them to help in getting stuff down to Mexico, i've also read to keep receipts, make sure each person's items do not go over $300 in value and to hide or remove anything that says made in china.thank goodness westjet offers 2 free checked baggages!

Wow... I've been so wrapped up in everything I didn't think about having ppl help me bring it down... DUH. lol Thanks!!!

The ONLY problem is that we are legally getting married in Mexico and under those laws we have to be in Mexico at least 4 business days before we get married so none of our family will be there that early. I hope I can bring the bulk of it down myself...

And what was that about the made in china thinghuh.gif

I was wondering the same thing...I wanted to ship some stuff but im afraid it will get broken, but still Ive seen the way they handle luggage at these airlines so it may still get broken!...I may ask my mom or some other relatives to help bring some stuff down for me....

I'm going to bring everything with me. The cost and logistics of shipping are too scary for me! I don't want to spend a couple hundred getting everything down there (Canadian shipping is expensive) only to discover it was lost or misplaced.

I'm going to have close friends and family pack extra things in their suitcases. I haven't decided if I'm going to create the OOT bags first or bring the 'ingredients' and assembly at the resort. The only problem with the latter is...I'd prefer to have them read for guests upon arrival...

I recently met a couple who was married in Jamaica 3 yrs ago and said that their shipped items were held in customs and they had to not only fight to get them out when they arrived but they also had to pay about $350 to get their items from customs. This turned me off! I made sure that my FI and I travel with our parents down and each of them will be carrying stuff for us. Thank goodness we can check 2 bags @ no additional charge.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
